When to Visit Charleston, South Carolina

As a southern city, Charleston typically has mild winters and hot, humid summers. For the best weather, most tourists prefer to visit during the pleasant spring and fall seasons. April and May tend to offer the best weather with the most sunshine, although hotel prices can be high during this high season. The fall features similarly pleasant weather with slightly more rain showers and generally lower costs.

If you can stand the heat, summer can be a good time to visit Charleston, especially during a school break. To save big on hotel prices, however, consider visiting during the winter. The weather is cool with temperatures in the 50s, but holiday events and other festivals keep the atmosphere perfectly warm.

Charleston, SC summarized

Sitting atop the peninsula's rocky cliffs, Sorrento remains Italy's last town of significance on the side of the bay. The next city of importance is Pompeii, long reduced to volcanic ashes. Sorrento is completely a resort, with its desolate location and mild climate drawing tourists looking for an exclusive getaway for more than two hundred years. The Southern Italian city enjoys resort year-round prices, so it's generally better to keep a few extra to enjoy the rest of the package-tour territory. The small town in Campania is reachable by the Circumvesuviana rail line, which offers guests with scenic spectacles of the Isle of Capri, the Vesuvius, and the Bay of Naples. Guests can also choose to enter the city through the high cliffs of Amalfi Drive. Numerous ferry boats can take you in the town, which have once carried the likes of Luciano Pavarotti and Enrico Caruso. Never leave the resort town without sampling its limoncello, and other offerings of olives, nuts, fruits, and wines.

'Charleston has something for everyone, rain or shine. Its architecture is unparalleled. Carriage rides are great for seeing the city and hearing the history behind certain houses and the area. - Thomas Gibson.

"Many Historic Sites & Great Tours"
Score 4.0 / 5

The city was remarkably clean of litter and we all remarked on the welcoming attitude of employees at restaurants and places we toured. We packed four days with sightseeing and could have filled another day with things that interested us. We toured Magnolia Plantation, Charles Town Landing, visited Shem Creek and walked the beach in Mt. Pleasant, had a great walking/car tour of the historic district with Nancy Small, were mightily impressed with an evening concert at the Circular Church, had a great explanation of Ft. Sumter by Ranger Greg and volunteer Dave, and ate great food at Magnolia, 82 Queen, Meeting on Market and a little gelato shop across from Indigo Inn on Meeting Street. The new Black History Museum was terrific and impressed us all. The ease of walking the historic district was important to us.
