Bar Chart: Upcoming 20 Days of Kanab Hotel Rates

Rates shown are nightly rates before taxes and do not necessarily reflect all Kanab, UT discounts available. The chart reflects the cheapest Kanab hotel for each day and each star rating category.

All around Kanab, buttes and sand dunes rise out of the desert between jagged canyons. Kanab is ripe for exploration by intrepid adventurers and thrill seekers, thanks to its unspoiled scenery and under-the-radar location. The North Rim of the Grand Canyon experiences far less traffic than the South Rim, making this the destination for nature lovers who want to discover the Grand Canyon region without rubbing elbows with too many other tourists.

Film buffs also make the pilgrimage to Kanab, often called LIttle Hollywood due to its filmmaking history, to follow in the footsteps of great Western filmmakers like John Ford and Western film stars like John Wayne. Frank Sinatra frequently stayed in Kanab, so much so that he financed the construction of a swimming pool at the Parry Lodge. During your stay, head to the Little Hollywood Movie Museum to see original movie sets from "The Outlaw Josey Wales" and other films that were shot in Kane County. Kids will love to take part in reenactments. Parry Lodge was also a favorite resort for film stars during filming, including Sinatra.

There's plenty of history beyond Hollywood in Kanab. A visit to the Kanab Heritage Museum reveals interesting historical footnotes such as the all-women Kanab City Council in 1911, a trailblazing feat before women's suffrage even took off in the United States. If you're a genealogy enthusiast, stop into the LDS Family History Center, which is free for public use.

Pipe Spring National Monument also offers fascinating insights into frontier life, when Mormon pioneers, ranchers, and Native Americans knew the Pipe Spring as a life-giving desert oasis. Going even further back, Moqui Cave and Red Pueblo Museum's exhibits include pre-Columbian artifacts from the Anasazi and Navajo Indians.

Whether you want to explore Kanab on foot, by car, by charter plane, or by four-wheeler, you're sure to have a thrilling time. With miles of hiking trails and wilderness experiences awaiting, Kanab, Utah, welcomes you to the adventure of a lifetime.

When would be the best time to visit the city of Kanab, Utah?

Kanab, Utah, receives 256 average days of sunlight each year. With weather like that, it's no wonder this community is all about physical activity in the outdoors. From spring to fall, the city throws many festivals and events, including 5K and 10K runs, marathons, and triathlons, but also community music, film, arts, and heritage festivals.

Each April, Kanab commemorates the area's legacy of filmmaking with the Little Hollywood Shootout each April, inviting budding and established filmmakers to come to Kanab and make a film from scratch in two days. The event culminates in a premiere screening at Kanab's Crescent Moon Theater.

If you're planning on getting out into nature, whether for birding, hiking, or riding the dunes, plan your visit to Kanab, Utah, between spring and early fall. The North Rim of the Grand Canyon opens in mid-May and remains open until mid-November.

Serious outdoor runners love the challenge of the Grand 2 Grand Ultra Marathon in September. This marathon pushes athletes beyond their endurance limits with a run through the desert. For those who prefer a less extreme run, Kanab offers plenty of events for all skill levels. The Feeling Lucky 5K comes in March, followed by the Kanab 10K in May and the festive KTown Turkey Trot 5K in November to herald the holiday season.

You don't have to be a hiker, biker, runner, or wilderness expert to enjoy your time in Kanab. Come in February for the Balloons and Tunes Roundup, a three-day festival of hot air balloons and live music. March brings the Spring Symphony of the Canyons, an unforgettable orchestral performance that is sometimes performed at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.

Experience the Old West during Jacob Hamblin Days. You'll enjoy rodeo events and frontier-style parades featuring period clothing, mule wagons, and pushcarts. In August and September, the Kane County Fair and Western Legends Roundup, Demolition Derby, and Apple Festival will offer plenty of family-friendly entertainment that will give you a taste of Western culture both then and now.
