Troy farmers market is a one of the best we've ever seen. Right on the Hudson.
I would have expected that the roads in Albany would have been in better condition since it's the state capital.
Lots of great architecture, Tulip festival was fun.Washington park is a beauty.
Capital diner is excellent, great food and staff. Plan on taking deserts to go
Downtown there are some wonky intersections. Don't be timid when driving

Attended basketball games at MVP Arena. .9 mile walk...downhill .4 miles, mostly flat the last half-mile. Walk back wasn't fun, and the uphill part isn't the nicest neighborhood. But I welcomed the exercise part.
If eating in, stick to simple to prepare meals. No stove. Hotplate, microwave, Toaster oven, coffee maker.
Lark Street and New Holland have lots of dining options and functional YMCA.
Washington Park has walking options, and when the weather is nice, I'm sure the tulips are, too.

My advice don't use this location.
My advice don't use this location. Dirty floors none of the amenities they said we would have. The heater wea extremely loud and only blew cool air even though we had the heat on. And the phone to call the front desk did not work.

The laminate floor inside the room was peeling up, tripping hazard, the tub/shower did not work, no water. On arrival and at checkout the staff was sitting in the lobby watching television. I had to wait for them to get assistance.

The room was unwelcoming.
The room was unwelcoming. Upon walking in the room immediately smelled of stale smoke and there was a possible blood stain on the window. There was also unidentifiable stains on the bed sheets. The door was not secure enough for sleeping overnight and you can hear through the walls and ceiling. Felt too unsafe and unclean.

The central down town is deteriorating with a large and unfortunate homeless population. This being said I felt safe as I walked though out the area.
Overall the downtown is clean and the architecture outstanding. Rockefeller plaza is outstanding , safe and clean at all hours. The NY museum and Albany institute of history and art are outstanding.
Restaurants in the center city are somewhat sparse though on the south west fringe they are good
Staff was helpful. Location downtown near certain facilities you made want to visit (arena, Capitol building and complex, museums, etc.). Albany is a challenging city with many problems, but the Hampton Inn is a nice place near where you may need to be. Staff treated us very well. Breakfast was excellent. Valet parking was convenient, safe and reasonably priced compared to many downtown hotels in other cities.
The location is amazing. You can feel safe walking at night, even as a single woman. The Gardens are a block away. Ample luxury shopping. The price is very reasonable considering it's in Back Bay. The service is impeccable. My son got hungry 10 min to 11 and they were able to get sliders up to us by 11, my son said they were the best sliders he ever ate. Very child friendly and dog friendly .
The room was truly amazing! Just perfect and designed to enhance the original splendor of the home. Breakfast was so much better than just a continental breakfast. The staff was attendant but not intrusive. The location is probably the best in all of Albany, across from Washington Park and a block from Lark Street with all the restaurant choices you could ever want.
Great hotel, easy to find with shops and eateries within a few minutes walk. The hotel had a basket ball hoop and pool table which kept everyone entertained.
The room was huge with a microwave, fridge and coffee machine - and it was immaculately clean.
A great breakfast in the morning too.
The staff were great - super friendly and polite.
we stayed at the hotel in Middletown, so selected this one for an Albany trip. beds and pillows were great, but sleep sofa was a bit hard, not comfortable. the cleanliness was not bad, but not as good as the other one we stayed at previously. appreciated the fitness center , and the pool was warm and open until 11 pm. very quiet.
The lobby area was absolutely gorgeous , & the rooms were SO CLEAN. You can from the second you got in that it was a clean hotel. (another bonus but not necessity was the size of the shampoos & stuff in the shower , most places give you enough to last 2 people a night lol). Staff was also all super friendly (:
We were driving from Cleveland Ohio to Ogunquit Maine and wanted to take a stop at Albany. The location of the hotel and restaurant scene around it was great. The hotel staff was quite nice. The room was clean but the toilet was NOT. We had to ask the staff to clean it.
HOTEL IN POOR CONDITION, DIRTS EVERYWHERE, BED SHITS WITH MULTIPLE HOLES IN THEM. THAT WAS THE WOST PLACE I EVER STAY AT. I DEFINETELY WILL NOT RECOMMEND ANY FAMILY AND FRIENDS TO STAY AT RAMADA ALBANY. I JUST IT IS A BIT BETTER WHERE ELSE.
The staff was kind. The breakfast was very nice. Check-in was quick and easy, and security for the hotel was impressive, given the location. The elevator only worked with a room key and the front doors locked after about 11 at night.
We spent a really nice time here. Room was clean, modern and quiet. Wifi was fast. Also lady at the reception desk was very helpful and friendly. If you are looking for a accommodation for a good price, I can recommend this hotel.
Breakfast was cheaper than the website stated and it was yummy. Hotel is centrally located and right across the street from Albany Medical Center. Front desk staff was friendly and professional.
Really comfortable and peaceful place to stay. Easy check in and friendly staff. We got upgraded to a full kitchen room/suite which was great. Everything Albany has to offer is walkable
The beds were very comfy, and the person who served us breakfast was VERY sweet and kind, other that that this place should absolutely not be called a Hotel.
