Maui has the best beaches and the ones off Wailuku are not too busy and lovely. It’s a full service town where the planes fly in so there are many shopping options including Costco. Vacation rentals are relatively expensive here.

If you don’t have a rental car you can plan on lots of walking. The bus system is great, but you need to make sure you have the time to do that. There isn’t a whole lot to see where we stayed. It is in an older part of Wailuku. Definitely not a tourist town, as such.

Wailuku is the County Seat and is several miles from the beach. So, if going to the beach, or to the mountains, you will need a car. However, it is a relatively small island, so if the beach resort life is not for you, this is a good place to stay.

I highly recommend having a rental car or you will be miserable without easy access to any waterfronts, however, this depends on where you are staying at so this might not be a problem but just a heads up if you book a place in town, GET A RENTAL CAR!!!

Central location - 20 min from airport, 6 min from groceries, walking distance to dining and banks and shopping. Lovely hike to Iao State Park available a short drive away. Easy access to highways to beaches. Fun to wake up to roosters crowing :)

We were only there for two days, then off to another part of Maui. The town itself did not have a lot going on, not much to see or do. The Iao State Park; however, was worth a quick visit. Very picturesque with minimal walking. Parking is limited, and $5.
To start with the host. Katie was kind and thoughtful.easy to communicate even made restaurant reservation. The property is luxurious right on the water everything you can expect from a 5 star place. The decoration and the welcome treat is special with all the exotic flowers. The unit is modern with all the comfort to the last details like bathrobe etc,..
We stayed before in most of the Wailea luxury hotels but will come back to this place first in the future. Made our stay with our friends unforgettable.
Love this place! Price is great, you get a better deal the longer your stay. I love that they had beach gear available to use. The place is clean and the owner is prompt at answering any questions. The locations is perfect. I think central of the island is best place to stay. All between Lahaina, Kihei, Haleakala, and RTH. Close to OGG airport, Maui swap meet Saturdays, and the beach near mamas fish house with lots of turtles. I would definitely stay here again.
Large common area, hotel type cooking facilities, coffee, tea included, well furnished lounge & kitchen area, extremely comfortable bed and lovely pool area with mountain views.
Owners were very friendly, excellent communicators with info prior to arrival. They also took the time to suggest activities & shopping bargains.
Passing on info only locals would know greatly enhanced my stay at Robbins Estate!
Inside Rick has made every upgrade imaginable! Over and above anything we have seen. Everything from lighting to robes to a fancy Japanese style smart-toilet. And the location is convenient to all of Maui and the view of the water and morning sunrise is stunning. Very much enjoy swimming in the pool and relaxing under the shady trees. Close to shops as well. Not crowded at all.
Maureen really has her hosting down to a fine art - had lots of tips and was very helpful getting settled in. The room had interesting tropical decor, which set it apart from the cookie cutter style of chain hotels. There were lots of little touches to make guests more comfortable: beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, a beach bag, a cooler, and even an umbrella to take along on day trips.
My wife and I stayed stayed at the The Old Wailuku in September 2022 during our first time in Maui and we had a great time. Our room was cozy, the house is well located, the breakfast was really good, and the staff was helpful and nice. We met the owners and they are such a nice couple, they gave us tips of restaurants, roads, and beaches. We would definitely stay here again.
Excellent view, great space with three full bedrooms for a family or couples. The location was easy to find, great place to stay with easy access to all parts of Maui. Wonderful beach just down the road, perfect place for morning relaxation by the waves, as well as meals on the deck. Clean and well accommodated kitchen supplies, towels, bedding, and beach supplies.
Wonderful location, in one of the most beautiful parts of Maui. So much nicer than staying in a resort hotel. So peaceful - just the sound of the river and birds - with fabulous views, a comfortable room and delicious breakfasts left on our own patio/fridge for the next day. One of the nicest places I’ve ever stayed.
I really liked the people and the place. It has been wonderful. Rooms are good there is a backyard with tables and a lot of free activities to do. I am so happy to were on this hotel. Also plenty of free parking around and it is in the middle of the island, near everywhere.
My friends and I had a fantastic stay, the guys of the staff are very kind, the common area are also beautiful, more than a hostel it felt like being in a hotel! Not to mention the atmosphere, it felt like being in the family!
Quiet and clean. Our unit newly renovated, comfortable mattress conveniently located for us as we have a Daughter living in Kahului. Centrally located. Right next to fabulous Aquarium you can walk to. Private beach
Great location in Wailuku to explore multiple points of interest in Maui. The Wailuku area is also nice with local shops. I had to do the checkout at 5am so appreciated the 24/7 schedule of the reception.
There's a number of busses that can get you out of Wailuku towards other destinations like Lahaina or the airport and nice places like Paia and Makawao. Maui is too beautiful to spend time in Wailuku!
Quite and secluded B&B. Great location just minutes from main downtown. Peaceful sounds of nature and a flowing river nearby made this place a great place to relax after doing tourist stuff all day.
