It’s a small town but it’s very peaceful and the Town people were friendly and nice and they talk to you there’s antique shops and a books store with coffee on hand and books to buy and lotta History in that town if you want a Peaceful nice vacation Palacios is the place

There is really nothing to do in Palacios. The beach water was a murky brown and we did not even go into the water. Due to a sea wall being built several years ago, there really was not much of a beach. Fishing of the piers was the only way to fish unless you had a boat.

I grew up in Palacios, but I have only been a handful of times since I enlisted in the Navy ( 25 years). There has been many changes, different people as well. But, some things never changed. The local mex-tex food establishment was great. There has been much improvement along the shore line and seawalls. The pier on south bay at the end of 4th street looks good, but not having the pavilion located on the pier is a shame. The size of the pavilion is a joke, it looks like an over grown gazebo. It looks nice, but it doesn't appear to be large enough to accommodate many people. The old Luther Hotel has taken to many hits for hurricane and appears to have fallen on hard times. That looks bad for a local historical building that is to be on display. The roads have been improved on, but down town has all but dried up. It appears everything has moved north to the HWY35 bypass. There has been much needed improvement on all the school buildings. There is no activites to attend except for sports events, go bird watching or fishing.

The hotel did not have computer to link to the reservation I made online. The clerk insisted that did not see all my rooms I reserved, and the manager asked a higher rate if I want that many rooms. And after we left at the next morning and asked for returned the 2nd night money, the manager said he will, but actually not! What a terrible experience!
