The cost was reasonable. The location was great. There were several places to eat. The room was comfortable and clean. The amenities were none. If the pool and fitness room is important, please call before booking at the Comfort inn suites.

38 degrees outside first night’s stay. Tub clogged.. Second night’s sleep in non smoking room, reeked of cigarette smoke! Caused me to have headaches. We checked out earlier than planned! Not a good experience. Will not book again! Might not book any Holiday Inn Express ever again

Old downtown is interesting - revamped opera house and surrounding area with several new start-ups. There are several good restaurants and bars downtown.
Large flea market on the outskirts every weekend.
Conveniently situated as an easy drive between Myrtle Beach and the state capital of Columbia. Plenty to see and do in both locations.
The surrounding country roads are great for cyclists.

Close proximity of the hotels. Would make a sweet retirement area. Getting around was easy. Applebee's was in walking distance from the hotel.

Overall, Sumter was a very nice place to visit.
Overall, Sumter was a very nice place to visit. Plenty of shopping and restaurants. The Palmetto Oyster House is a fun and enjoyable destination. I would suggest the steak....
I would recommend a visit to the historical downtown area. There are interesting places to eat and have a drink. If you like antiques, you won't be disappointed.
Don't forget to visit Swan Lake. The park not only will give you an up-close-and-personal- look at the beautiful swans but the park itself is very clean and well maintained. Great for family fun.

People were friendly, and the room was clean and quiet.
People were friendly, and the room was clean and quiet. It is a busy area, right on the main strip. Breakfast was ok, eggs weren't too good, and bacon looked to greasy for me to attempt. No balcony, to allow fresh air into the room, and there was no fan in the bathroom, so it was quite steamy after my shower.
This hotel is NOT a Comfort Suites but rather a very poorly managed, run down older Comfort Inn. Our room was dirty, we had no hot water and we found a scab in the bed. why was this listed as a 3 star hotel? Also, we over-paid at $130 and found this same hotel room listed on other booking sites for as low as $89.00. This may be the end for me with Booking. com!
The stay and beds were good the bathrooms were nasty tubs need replacing they were dirty some of my family were complaining about there rooms and the staff was nasty and had attitudes with them we were in the Sumter SC Sleep Inn they said when they complained to the manager about there room she replied welcome to sumter so we won't be returning
Was very clean. Nice to have a kitchenette to cook some meals instead of eating out so much. Was not noisy. The manager was nice and pleasant. Will stay here again for sure. Better than other chain hotels in the area I stayed in recently. Everything worked. Which is surprising for more expensive hotels i stayed in last week.
The hotel hallways and our room made the hotel look old and a little rundown. Our room had a heavy smoke smell, but it was clean. We could hear the people upstairs walking or stomping a cross the floor. The staff were very nice. All in all, for the $86.00 we pd it was ok.
The desk receptionist was outstanding. She was Very friendly, and welcoming. When I checked out early in the morning, she was still working and kept her friendly demeanor. Very refreshing and most memorable part of my stay at the hotel.
After staying in other motels in the area I found Candlewood exceptional. I come to Sumter about twice a year and I have finally found a motel I will be coming back to. I liked everything about the facility.
I guess I expected a little more variety for breakfast. It wasn’t what I expected. At another chain in Sumter they have waffle irons, sausage gravy and biscuits, fruit, eggs, pastries, coffee, juice, etc.
The breakfast was tasty and had a good assortment of items from which to chose. I could not have been happier with your hotel. I will certainly refer you to my friends and family.
The staff was very heplful, If I needed something they were very quick to help, so I am very pleased with their effort to accommodate my stay at the Hotel.
