Monteagle is transitioning; there are some very nice restaurants, access to nature trails and The University of The South. It is not a destination location, it is a "commuter town" to other locations. There are a number of closed/ businesses in need of renovation. It's a mixed bag.

My sister & good friend stayed here for a concert that was canceled but we did enjoy the area anyway. We found a non denominational spirit filled church service that we liked possibly as much as we would have the concert. There were restaurants & stores handy . The friendly country charm was everywhere from the restaurants to the holel . Love this place . High on a mountain of love.😊❤

Monteagle has a lot to offer.
Monteagle has a lot to offer. There are a lot of parks and hiking trails around the area. Just to the southeast you have Chattanooga only 45 minutes away with access to Lookout Mountain and Nickajack Lake. The weather is mild and pleasant even in the middle of Summer. There are Mountains and trees and lots of creeks rivers and lakes. Nashville is a little more of a drive 90 minutes to the north on I-24.

I have been traveling from Michigan to this small and sweet little town for 4 yrs. Everyone is so friendly. I love all the small shops. The view is also amazing. The town is on top of a mountain and the trails for hiking are gorgeous

Great grounds for nature, kids and dogs but my room at the lodge was very dirty. Grime, hair, brown stain on door, in tub I put down a towel to shower. I put soap n shampoo bottle on top of wash cloth! No deadbolt on door. Plywood 2x4 sticking out from under bed. If they cleaned this place it would be awesome!
we were stranded in bumper to bumper traffic late at night and decided to just find a hotel for the night. we were thrilled with the price, while the lodge is older they have done a great job of updating the rooms. my kids were so excited about the lodge appearance and we loved the safety of the place. it’s definitely a hidden gem in the fact that’s it’s inexpensive and right off the highway. the smells from the restaurant were amazing.
I liked that the sports bar is attached downstairs it made supper a breeze with a nice drink beforehand. Didn’t have to speak to anyone to enter hostel/room just went in with code provided. VERY clean, a little compact which isn’t necessarily a bad thing unless you have trouble getting around. It was basic yet functional. It IS shared with 3 other guests, though you get your own bedroom.
My bed and linens match up to any 4* hotel. Everything was white glove clean, the staff are friendly, and the breakfast was good. I make it s point to stay here when I'm traveling.
The location was great. The staff was helpful and friendly. There was a gas station with a McDonald's right next door, and a liquor store right in front of the hotel.
Great value for the price, good location near The Caverns and some nice hikes. Bed was extremely comfortable and the aesthetics of the room were excellent.
