We stayed at The Carlton for just one night after a long 12-hour drive from Oregon. The hotel is a delightful blend of old-world elegance with modern comforts. The tasteful decor was a welcome change from the generic chain hotels we had endured the past few days.
Best overall for us - We didn’t have to drive to a restaurant for dinner since great restaurants are within easy walking distance (1-2 blocks) - We highly recommend Mr. Q's.
The Carlton's perfect location, combined with its charming atmosphere, made it the perfect stopover.

The location was great. The bedding and pillows really nice quality, bed was comfortable. Covered parking and patio were really nice, even though the weather kept us from using. My daughter slept on the couch and was surprised at how comfortable that was.

We were very pleased with the cleanliness and the facility itself. We liked the property as a whole as far as comfort is concerned. The room was very clean and well-stocked.

We stayed at The Carlton which is in a very safe city location with great restaurants within 1 to 2 blocks.
For dinner - We highly recommend Mr. Q’s although the Cielo’s looked great but it was closed the night we were there. The local hamburger spot across the street, Sylvester’s, smelled wonderful! But we only had one night so we picked Mr. Q’s but we will be back for hamburgers someday at Sylvesters.
Wine tasting rooms are around the corner from The Carlton. For dinner we had a bottle of the 2019 Zinfandel from Kula Vineyards & Winery – it was wonderful!

Restful and comfortable. Nice, quiet community.
Restful and comfortable. Nice, quiet community. Being there on business didn't give me the time or opportunity to look around. But the is most definitely a small community of a few. It wasa great experience.

Drug paraphernalia in the bed, needles and syringes, in the first room. Very loud air conditioner in the second room (246). It also smelled like marijuana. The floor was sticky / dirty. I was ripped off for more than double the quoted price on the one night I stayed there. Do not stay there!

Atascadero has many restaurants, from fast food to high end dining, as well as breweries...something for everyone. It's conveniently located to the wineries in Paso Robles, to the central coast beaches in Avila & Pismo, and to the cute college town of San Luis Obispo.

Atascadero seems like a nice, quiet little town.
Atascadero seems like a nice, quiet little town. We were just there overnight, but all the necessities were there and easily accessible. One thing to note - many of the restaurants close around 8pm, so if you are looking for dinner, be sure to get it early:)
Although the hotel is 5 or 6 years old, it still seem very new and carpet in the room looked brand new. Loved our extra large room, very comfy large bed, sofa with small table, and the large bathroom. Facility was nice, although we did not use the pool, it was nice sitting outside with drinks and enjoying a family in the pool. Enjoyed the location, not as crowded as Paso Robles, but easy to reach, and close to the wineries. Snack & drinks were good, breakfast was fair (due to Covid restrictions).
The hotel is a little dated. The bed was a little lumpy and I woke up sore in the morning. Those were the only downsides.
Overall the experience was nice. The hotel is clean, the pool and hot tub are accessible for the physically challenged. Hotel staff were quite friendly. The location is at the north end of Atascadero, so it is quiet and there is less traffic to noise. I would stay again in the future.
The unit's location is within walking distance of the main street of Atascadero, making it relatively easy to find coffee and dinner locations. the house was well equipped with furnishings and kitchen supplies. the house was decorated nicely and had a nice size backyard and ample parking for our needs.
Love the historic building and furnishings. Rooms are large and confortable. Love the bathrooms and interior courtyard. Atascadero is a good location for wine tasting, golfing, and other activities around SLO. or Paso Robles or the coast. The bakery next door has excellent pastries and coffee.
The facility is older, with low cost amenities and average maintenance.
The room was very large & the bathroom fan was actually operational and functioned properly.
The room appeared to be fairly clean.
Overall comfort was better than most motels that advertise as low cost facilities.
The room was super big, very clean and super comfortable. The breakfast was the best Hotel breakfast I had in the US, especially because they had reusable dishes! 👏🏽 The gym was well equipped and the pool heated. We had a good time here and would stay here again.
I was helped by the front desk the woman's name was jazz my phone crashed and I couldn't get any thing so I contacted her she personally helped me get to the hotel and got me checked in immediately and was so courteous and polite thank you very much Jazz
The beds were very comfortable, the room was elegant and very clean. We found it was nicer in real life than in the pictures. The bathroom and soaking tub were also really lovely. A beautiful historic hotel in the heart of downtown.
The staff at the Holiday Inn in Atascedero CA were wonderful. Very pleasant and professional. The complimentary breakfast was very good and hot and the hotel was clean!
I have always liked modernized, historic buildings, particularly hotels. this one has been gloriously restored to modern services and customer requirements.
