The motel is clean but in need of repair.

The motel is clean but in need of repair. I would recommend staying there both for the convenience and proximity to the railroad which is immediately adjacent. Due to COVID shutdown, the owners took a big financial hit. They need revenue to overhaul and repair units. I would encourage visitors to help by staying there prior to the railroad excursion.

Unfortunately, the hotel is very old and in urgent need of renovation. The operators try very hard and are helpful and courteous. Unfortunately, that doesn't change the fact that the price-performance ratio isn't right at all. That's why we wouldn't stay here again.

Only stay here if you don't mind the stench of marijuana in your room and down the hall way. The hotel has a 100% smoke free policy which is not enforced. The use of marijuana actually is encouraged as when we mentioned the marijuana aroma the staff, he stated this was a "420 friendly hotel". We were disappointed as this use to be a fun family friendly place to stay.

We went specifically to ride the Cumbres & Toltec RR, which was great! Small quaint town. The Dutch Mill restaurant was excellent and friendly staff. Our stay at Steam Train Hotel was okay, based on the circumstances with Covid.

The motel was horrible, very uncomfortable in every sense of the word. (Narrow Gauge Railroad). Didn’t feel safe in this town, didn’t have any incidents, just a creepy uneasy feeling. Went back to the mountains as soon as possible. The wilderness was way more comfortable than this place.

Manager was incredibly friendly and helpful. Place and room were clean. Site is only a five minute walk from the Toltec-Cumbres RR. It’s also walking distance to a nearby gas station where you can get a delicious breakfast burrito. It’s simple and basic and quiet - gets the job done. The fan provides great white nose with no rattling (sounds weird but lots of inexpensive motels have inefficient and noisy fans). I was glad to have this option in Antonito and would stay again.

The hotel is basically one of two in town. We chose this one because of the history. We went there to ride the scenic antique train. The location was good. The room was small and sparsely furnished. The bathroom and shower were very small. I looked in some other rooms and they appeared larger and better furnished. So my comments are about my room ONLY. No coffee in room but did have a breakfast setup with Danish/cereal/coffee.

The staff was great. Recently hired to manage and fix up the hotel. It is in need of some repairs and they are doing their best with the funds the owner is giving them. They gave us a free upgraded room and that was very nice of them. They were more than happy to meet any request you have and provide coffee for the morning. Love how it was just right around the corner from the Cumbres & Toltec Railroad.

What I really liked were the people that work at the hotel. Then I like "old." It brings back memories as I am 87 years old. My daughter and I were there about a year and a half ago. She met the ghost in room 5. We know it was definitely something as I had my little dog with me and she grumbled all night long. I think that that ghost just did not want anyone in the little bed.

This is an older motel with just the basics. If you’re in Antonito to enjoy the train ride & don’t plan to spend a lot of time in your room, this place is an excellent value. Amenities may be lacking, but it’s clean, quiet and convenient.

Location was great - easy walk to restaurants and 10 minutes or so to the train depot. AC worked ok, and access in and out was easy. Ice maker in the common room was a plus. Outdoor deck was a nice spot to hang out.

Although the hotel is old, it was very clean and quiet and convenient. The manager was very helpful in giving us extra blankets and directing us to restaurants in town. Would stay there again.

Great location and price. Antonito had their Labor Day event, and we thoroughly enjoyed everyone we met. Train ride, and town restaurants were good.

Very large room for three people in a old hotel. Decor was suitable for the period, beds were comfortable and bathroom was large and clean.
