Independence is a small town that has the right amount of amenities to enjoy in a few days. Love the lake, walk the downtown area (just wish to see more open stores) and delicious places to eat! Plus, the free zoo, park, train and best the mini-golf all in one area. Love the small store where you find quality dairy products. I have to visit the museum next time.

Great quiet town. We visited the zoo and the sports museum. We enjoyed eating at sams, Annie maes coffee shop,& braums. Everything we did was within blocks of the hotel and if hadn’t been so cold we could have walked everywhere.

Independence was fine the appletree hotel was dirty (blood on the side of the tub that was broken. The TV remote was broke, the air conditioning was broken the door to get into the hotel was broken so we had to walk all the way around to the lobby. We had stayed there several times before but we never had a room as nasty as this in the future I will not stay there

Independence, Kansas is a quaint little town.
Independence, Kansas is a quaint little town. We enjoyed the down town..Loved the small shops.. We had dinner at Brothers railroad Inn.. The food was delicious.. We also stopped at a local coffee shop named Ane Maes Coffee and Sandwich shop. Coffee and sandwiches were superb.. The people are friendly and we felt safe..
Great place to visit.
I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting much from this hotel. It was the only one left when I booked for Neewollah and it looked a little sketchy from the reviews. But it was fine. It's an old hotel that is in need of renovation, but it was clean and comfortable, and the staff was VERY helpful. Honestly, I'd recommend it as a budget motel.
We had to be moved 4 times. The first room stunk like someone had just been smoking in it. The second room, the ceiling was falling in. The third room, also stunk. All sheets and blankets had stains and dirt. Hair was found in the beds and the counters were disgusting. Stay away from this hotel!
This hotel is very close to a lot of stores within walking distance the staff was very nice and attentive would recommend this place and for July 4th they had a taco night and fireworks everything great place thank you
