If you like the historical colonial setting, Yorktown is desirable and educational. Many of the old buildings are there to be toured and background information is present. But, If you just want a beach experience, as we did, Yorktown Beach is rather disappointing. Not enough places to eat or park. No other real attractions.
We did find excellent seafood dinners at Chippers close to the hotel. Yorktown itself is easy to navigate and there were grocery stores, pharmacies, and other services and shops close to the hotel.

Not a party town, but a pleasant place with a great view if you want a relatively simple get-away. It does get a bit crowded in season. If you're good at making the most of not too many options, the view is lovely.

Everyone should visit the place that started America with Washington's defeat of Cornwallis. The town is beautiful in every season. You can drive through the battlefields or on the Colonial Parkway. Eat at "The Pub" within steps of the Duke of York as you watch activity on the York River. You might even see a Navy ship or submarine headed to the Naval Weapons station! End up your day with a Yorktown Ghost tour. You will never want to leave!€

my sisters enjoyed the short time.
my sisters enjoyed the short time. We Rode through and snapped a few pictures 📷 at the beach ⛱. We couldn't visit the museum because of covid 19. However, Virginia seems to be a bit more safe than some other places. Next time we'll be able to visit other landmarks.
The beach was the best place though.

I was in Yorktown for the annual commemoration of the surrender of British General Cornwallis to the combined American and French forces commanded by Generals Washington and Rochambeau. I am a big history enthusiast, so it's always great to be where such significant history happened.
The rooms are aged (bedding and carpet), yes. But they’re kept really clean. The bed was comfortable with super fluffy pillows. And the showers? Heaven. So hot and the water pressure was fantastic. The location was convenient to Williamsburg and food. The room had a mini fridge with a separate freezer door which is nice. Flat screen TV. We usually stay at high end hotels/resorts, and in comparison, we were really pleased with our stay.
The breakfast was fantastic both days. Quiche, two kinds one day, with fruit, egg & cheese casserole another day sure was great. Sitting inside with lots of history on all the walls was wonderful. Sitting outside with an after dinner drink watching fireflies was a topper to the day. Finally we sure enjoyed David’s history lesson talk at breakfast of what went on in Yorktown over the years.
I just checked in the hotel not 10 minutes ago and the person that I was with dropped off the key and they telling me I checked out because A friend left the key at the front office when the room is still available
What was not to like? Beautiful B&B, perfect location, and wonderful staff. Absolutely loved meeting David and getting to know the history of the house and of Yorktown. Also loved our room!
Breakfast was not what was expected, muffins and drinks do not constitute an international breakfast. Location was close to beach , but views, for the price, was limited at best.
