My destination was House on the Rock, so the distance that I had to travel from the hotel was very nice. It is pretty much out in the middle of nowhere so I appreciated not having to drive extremely far. One thing about the room that could be fixed is the toilet seat. Every time I used it it slipped off to the side. I tried to tighten it down myself and I couldn't do it.

We travel to the Dodgeville area several times each year to attend American Players Theater in Spring Green. The Driftless region is beautiful, and offers many opportunities for all types of sightseeing and activities, from canoeing/swimming/fishing the Wisconsin River to some of the best theater in the NATION. (maybe the world!) Throw in Frank Lloyd Wright and nearby Crane Foundation, Circus World, House on the Rock, Gov. Dodge State Park, historic Mineral Point, various festivals, etc.,etc., and there's something for everyone. Best to travel during the week to avoid crowds.

If this were not ‘COVID-19’ times, my review would be much different. However, this hotel did not follow CDC or Wyndham recommendations – including enforcing the requirement of wearing masks in common spaces as indicated on the Wyndham website, the local AmericaInn Wyndham in Dodgeville hotel’s website, where I stayed, or as indicted on the sign at the entrance of the AmericaInn Wyndham in Dodgeville. When I entered, I noticed 3 guests without masks as well as the employee at the reception desk. Upon check-in I commented to the employee that they are required to wear masks and she said, “I am fine. I am behind the Plexiglass’. She also indicated that many of the guests are there long-term as construction workers and they do not want to wear masks. At that point another employee approached me (not behind the desk – in the lobby) and asked if he could help. He did not have a mask on and stopped less than 6 feet from me. He then went behind the Plexiglass and put on a mask. At that point the receptionist did as well. They told be that the County doesn’t require masks and I explained that that doesn’t matter as Wyndham does. They again said they can’t make people wear masks if they don’t want to. Over the course of my stay, when employees saw me coming I noticed they were quickly putting on a mask. When I saw 2 room guest room cleaning staff, only one wore a mask. The breakfast was not modified for COVID. They did not clean, even as people left tables. As I left the hotel after 2 nights I was asked how my stay was and I explained my experience…again….to the same individual. Over the course of my stay I saw employees, guests, and a delivery person all without masks. I write this negative review because anyone who cares about taking precautions during this pandemic will not feel safe staying at the AmericaInn Wyndham in Dodgeville.

-Safety concerns: locked security doors left open, no masks worn by staff and by rare guests, gamblers with dice on sidewalk by security doors to guest rooms, Mildew smell in hallways.
+Clean room, comfortable bed/pillows, pet friendly, pool, location close to House on the Rock. Barbecue place good food, grocery store close with good deli.

Had some good restaurants with great prices. Especially loved the river side dining at resort in near by Spring Valley. They had tubing on the river at the resort that looked fun but we didn't have time this trip, hopefully next trip!

I love Dodgeville because of all of the animals that live there. We befriended an old Appaloosa Boy and a Llama. We also got to see a fireworks show! The town is quaint and well maintained. I love the beautiful farmland. Lots to see. The old slag furnace was cool, too. Governor Dodge State Park and House on the Rock are just a few of the neat attractions in Dodgeville. Stay at the Don Q Inn if you want a unique hotel experience.
There was nothing good about this hotel. We had nothing but problems. We checked out 2 hours after we checked in and went to a different hotel. The room was freezing and the heat didn't work. There was no power cord for the TV. Just overall bad
