There's nothing to do in town besides go to the stinky lakes... yes the lakes stink, some parts of the lake smelt like rotting meat, the bike trail on lake Ave is one of those areas. Guessing it was caused from the green blue algae issue this town always has. I grew up in this town came back to visit family. All the things that was in town to do seemed to be closed or so nasty couldn't enjoy it like the lakes. The lakes used to be amazing not sure what happened. The past 10 years they have been horrible.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Not having an elevator is the biggest inconvenence. That information should be on the things to know before booking the room.

We were passing through, just enough time to eat, shower and sleep. The room listed as sleeping 5 people, but only showed having 2 queen beds. When checking in I asked and was informed that Minnesota law allows hotels to claim an extra person if a bed can be rolled in. So I asked for one and was told that there isn’t one available. I thought that was extremely deceiving and lessened the value of the hotel to me. I had to squeeze 3 kids (10,10,&8) into 1 queen bed. Luckily it was just for a few hours. The room was very cramped. I am not sure how they could have rolled a bed or cot in.

I came for a relative's wedding.
I grew up on a farm near East Chain so Fairmont was our Go To Town
15 miles away. I remember Carpenter's Grocery Store just north of the
post office.
I also remember the Strand and Nickolas movie theaters.

I had about 200.00 stolen from me at the Salvation Army Store in town. I set my purse down for a minute and it was gone. We later found the purse hanging on a coat hanger with a sweater over it. The credit cards and all was there, but they took all my vacation money.
The manager was quite helpful. At best, it would be nice to have caught the thief and get some of my money back....
When we arrived we received a very nice welcome by Pat (gosh, I hope that was her name!) She loves dogs, and she came from behind the front desk to give our basset hound Wyatt a big welcome. That was so nice. The hotel is very clean. The clean room was on the larger side. We had a nice breakfast the next morning. This is a great option when travelling in south central Minnesota.
Room was nicely updated with fresh paint, bathroom fixtures, a few nice decorative touches. On outskirts of Fairmont, very quiet after sundown. Comfortable bed, good lighting, nice mini-fridge and microwave in like-new condition. Surprising for the low cost of room! Central grassy area with charcoal grills and picnic tables would've worked fine for picnicking if we'd arrived earlier.
Stayed here for one night as I was travelling across the USA. This is a great little motel in Fairmont. The room was incredibly clean and quiet. Staff was very kind upon check in. Overall great for 1 night stay!
