Great fall colors on Dead Man's Hill. Ate a great meal at the Happy Troll. Easy parking on the side streets with nice little shops to browse on the main street. Beautiful harbor. Fun mushroom houses to drive by and a nice castle to visit. We also took the car ferry - which was fun!

I enjoy the farmers market on Thursday mornings. I also like walking to the nearby mushroom homes, the Lake Michigan waterfront, and the Lake Charlevoix access. The local restaurants are worth visiting, as are the downtown galleries and shops. Charlevoix reminds me of the villages in Wisconsin's Door County.

We are four adults and stayed 3 nights in the Hemingway Suite (2 bedrooms with one bath). The manager is a jewel and elevated our stay from "great" to "exceptional" with her cheerful friendliness and excellent breakfasts.

Quaint town.
Quaint town. Easy to park and walk around - we were there the week before Memorial Day though. Once the summer season starts, different story. Had dinner at The Villager Pub - great staff, service! Big portions! We split the Nacho Supreme! So good!! They know how to do nachos! Met the owner - he has been there for 42 years. Everyone was very friendly. Stopped at a shop called Tasha's Tees - very nice shop. She screen prints everything on site. We had a very nice time talking with her.

It was a difficult trip for my mom and I , we staying in the area to go to a funeral for a family member . The fact that the staff was kind and went above and beyond what is required of them to make our stay there pleasant . They provided us with fresh coffee and a complimentary tooth brush . We like Torch Lake , and we like Charlevoix , it is a beautiful town. Staff did address our issues with our bathroom , by sending maintenance to our room. It was just unfortunate , because we only stayed on night , afterwards shower and toilet seat were repaired, but my Mom did not get a shower because shower was not handicap accessible like it was supposed to be , because the bracket that was supposed make the shower head adjustable was broken. We paid extra for the room to have that accommodation for her. But , we stayed one night two different occasions and the first time we stayed , all the accommodations in our bathroom were available. Both times we stayed at the motel one night in the month of July , the staff provided excellent hospitality!

Downtown has a nice variety of shops, food, galleries, etc.
Downtown has a nice variety of shops, food, galleries, etc. It's also very dog friendly. The marina is impressive. Easy to commute to other areas like Petoskey. My particular favorite place was Fisherman's Island Park. Nice uncrowdedsand beach, beautiful lakeshore and views. And be sure to tour Earl Youngs mushroom houses...so very unique and special.
