at check in time our room was not cleaned yet and they moved us to another very uncomfortable room downstairs which had a stinky smell and the room fan did not work, So we left the hotel requesting a full refund of our pre payment. I would not recommend this hotel .
Beautiful town location, but we moved on.

Castle Rock is close to Mt St Helens National Monument which makes it an ideal place to stay for the night when planning a hike in the park (which is beautiful). The town is small with a good grocery store and a few restaurants. We had takeout from Papa Pizza Pete and it was excellent. Castle Rock closes down early since there is less tourism these days.

Very charming small town on the Cowlitz River.
Very charming small town on the Cowlitz River. We enjoyed the shops and local flavor and beautiful flowers planted everywhere. Very easy to park and just walk around. There is a nice pathway that runs along the river as well. We ate at the Oasis Bar several times which had a great variety of options which everyone seemed to enjoy.

Castle Rock is near Mt Saint Helens and on a very beautiful river with wonderful beaches. The downtown is quaint with shops that you won't find anywhere else. Has a new micro brew pub, antiques and a new home decor store that is well worth the trip. Close the Seattle, Portland the the ocean beaches.

The gentleman at the front desk was super friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location, right at the start of the road leading in to Mount St. Helens. I didn't have to use the wifi much, but it was available in the room for free and worked well for basic internet browsing at least. Single room was a good size. Checkout was easy - just leave your key in the room and close the door behind you. I was visiting to do some astrophotography at Mount St. Helens, so just needed someplace to crash after getting back at 4am.
Basic very functional hotel with perfect location near our family as well as the very charming town of Castle Rock. We needed to be there for several local family events. Didn't spend much time in the room, just sleeping/bathing.
It seemed like many other people were also staying there as a "base camp", parked outside their rooms with kayaks etc on their cars. I did like the feature of having our car right outside the room for easy loading/unloading.
I liked that it was freshly updated (tap entry, not dumb as ef ancient Neanderthal swipe, fresh paint, good ambiance). Lobby had some free stuff not expected in a 2 star hotel (free water, some snacks). Owner/manager was really willing and interested in improving customer service. Willing to listen to customer ideas. GENUINELY interested in customer satisfaction. It also had toothbrush/toothpaste in the room which was unexpected. Nice touch.
Property is under new ownership and the new guys are delightful. We talked to them a bit and they are investing in remodel and upgrades. It was EXTREMELY clean (I love the smell of disinfectant when I enter a hotel room). Ordinary furnishings but nice mattresses even the artwork was tasteful. I wish we had skipped the camping and just stayed here for our Mt St Helen’s excursion. Highly recommend!
The bed was very soft, the room was clean and roomy but the TV could have been bigger and near the bed. There was an ashtray right outside my door so it was easily accessible and I liked that. Check in was easy and it was very quiet being the only guests at the hotel.
A hotel had recently invested in new mattresses and new bedding. This was an excellent choice, and made everything very comfortable. Some of the end room furniture was quite dated and needs to be replaced, but the new mattresses made everything. Excellent!
The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The room had everything that we needed and even included toothbrushes and toothpaste in case we forgot ours! The hotel lobby has complimentary bottled water, which is another nice touch.
We checked in at midnight, even though we were late, the staff was very kind and helpful. The room was bigger than your average hotel room, it had a microwave and a fridge, which was awesome. Very clean.
The hotel was close to the State park we were looking to explore and was priced quite well. It was comfortable with the staff being very concerned about our comfort and ensuring all our needs were met.
I liked the hotel, it was clean, the staff was friendly and it seems like the parking lot was recently done which was nice. The room was a good size and clean.
Surprisingly roomy rooms and very clean. It is an older hotel, but is kept up very well. The mattress and pillows were comfortable. The room was quiet.
