The Altafiumara Resort & Spa rises in the midst of a scenario of natural beauty which includes the Straits of Messina and the stretch of the Costa Viola that goes from Villa San Giovanni to Scilla, only 11 km from Reggio Calabria.
Altafiumara is an authentic paradise of Costa Viola, so named after the colour that the sea and sky take on at sunset. Unique and incomparable spots in the heart of Mediterranean, the uncontaminated sea,which is always limpid and transparent, and Exclusive Coves cliff faces that dominate the sea offering enchanting views.
The Altafiumara Hotel, which lies within a park area of 10 hectares overlooking the sea, has been completely restructured. The park's project has, first of all, kept the already existing plants – the oaks, the Scotch pines and the Maritime pines, the cypresses, the olive trees, the prickly pear trees, the myrtles - and integrated them with other essences belonging to the Mediterranean undergrowth. Very charming is the garden built around the “Islands”, the “Water-lily Pond”, the biological garden, the aromatic herb walk and the lemon, lime and bergamot avenue.
The contemporary art collection integrates an exhibition moment and a creative laboratory. Important contemporary artists such as Giuseppe Uncini, Agostino Bonalumi and Emilio Isgrò have enthusiastically decided to take part in this project. Other artists will be able to be compared in this new type of reality, giving life to a “permanent” exhibition from the contents more and more innovative and not conventional.
This antique Bourbon fort dating from the end of the 1700's has been restored to its antique splendour after a careful work of restoration. The hospitable Castle is exclusively made up in suites. 32 junior suites and 5 suites, each one being furnished with taste and style, which immediately transmit a feeling of elegance and warmth, without forgetting functionality and modern comfort. On the first floor of the Castle, the “Fata Morgana” superior suite, 110 square meters looking out over the sea, frame of a unique spectacle: Sicily seems so close that it could almost be touched by one's fingertips.
Located in the southern area of the park, the "Sporting" has other 46 rooms; here there is also a fresh-water swimming pool and the cliff-top putting green. It is also connected to the Health Centre ”Notos”. There are 36 suites, 6 junior suites and 4 classic rooms, and the Lounge Bar “Sporting”.
Situated within a romantic garden before a palm-shaded sheet of water called the “Water-lily Pond”, the “Islands” are made up of 45 elegant rooms, each with a patio and private garden, the ideal spot for a moment of relaxation and silence.
The “I Due Mari” restaurant offers gastronomic experiences based on refined Mediterranean flavours. The genuine and fragrant cuisine, which also has a touch of the exotic, is served in an elegant but informal setting with a splendid terrace overlooking the beautiful Straits of Messina.
At the "Vele" rooms banquets can be organised for up to 350 people, being one of most important buildings for big events in the province of Reggio Calabria. Spread over a large area, it is protected by a spectacular tensile structure and delimited by large windows.
In the heart of the Mediterranean, full of history and charm, we find “Notos”, Altafiumara's oasis dedicated to well-being, immersed in the greenery of the park. The 800 square meters structure is built on two levels and is totally dedicated to intense sensorial stimuli, which are the result of a relentless study into the forms, colours and materials that beautify us all internally and externally. The specialised staff of “Notos” propose specific, regenerating and even personalised courses that lead to the perfect harmony of the body, mind and spirit. The programmes: relaxing, toning and circulatory, are an effective collection of aesthetic and massotherapic treatments, idealised to gratify and to please.
