The Avalon Hotel and Conference Center is a Historic hotel located in downtown Erie across the street from the Children's Theater. I parked in the garage which is on the backside of the hotel and took the elevator to the lobby. Off either end of the lobby is where everything is at. One direction is the meeting space with foyer featuring Grand piano, fountain and small outdoor courtyard with seating; the other direction the Erie Room where Continental Breakfast (included in rate) and Benjamin's Restaurant that serves dinner. Other dining options and bars are also available within walking distance. Hosting an event, not a problem the hotel has a wide variety of menus to select from and up to 1000 guests with their flexible event space. Majority of guest rooms have been recently renovated with new carpeting, furniture and soft goods. This hotel is great while on business or leisure especially family reunions or weddings.

We asked for handicap accessible. Our room was not. The shower had a 16 inch high tub (a person in a wheel chair can not get into that). The first set of rooms were still not cleaned from the last people. When I went to the desk she said she was the only person in the hotel and there were no cleaning people to help. Their WiFi didn't work. They did not stand up to a four star hotel that I payed for. I paid for my mother and all. I paid extra for a four star hotel for all of them.
