This Holiday Inn provides excellent value accommodations in a nice, residential part of the city. This property, while under the Holiday Inn flag, is NOT your typical Holiday Inn. Unlike the other, simple, two floor properties that are common of this brand, this Holiday Inn is a stylish, 26 floor hotel with a ton of meeting space and an outdoor rooftop pool. I was especially impressed with the sleeping rooms, which look like they could belong in a trendy 4 star hotel, rather than a Holiday Inn. The hotel's location is central, and accessible to all major tourist attractions, but it is not right in the thick of them. Instead, it is located in a nice neighborhood, right next to these local hotspots. So, the area immediately surrounding the hotel is a pleasant place to walk around and shop (not touristy like Union Square or edgy like downtown). You also have the benefit of excellent views from every room, since there are no other large buildings obstructing your view. The hotel also has several large, flexible spaces for events as well as an on-site restaurant. Currently, the spaces and restaurant are very basic, but should make a stylish transformation to match the sleeping rooms after the current renovations. I recommend this hotel as it provides excellent value for the price all year, and is an easy and spacious option for any group.

The hotel is equipped nicely and in a convenient location close to the civic center. Staff members are nice and accommodating to our requests. However, the rooms close to the elevators are a bit noisy and the Internet is really slow.

I recently brought a group of 32 high school juniors to the hotel and they were extremely accomodating. The price was fantastic and helped us stay within budget. We even had money left over for extra fun stuff (like ice skating in Union Square). The hotel itself is newly renovated and the rooms were clean, nice, spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The location was also great for getting to just about anywhere in the city easily. Since we are a hospitality management program, Sales Manager Ronnie Lau was able to put together a small tour of the facilities and management presentation. In addition, all our group requests were met with ease (including having rooms for girls on one floor with our female chaperones and boys on the next floor with our male chaperones). It was extremely easy and convenient to have them set up this way. We will definitely be booking with them for our trip next year!

Property Description

The HI Golden Gateway is centered in the Polk Village, adjacent to Nob Hill, Pacific Heights, and Civic Center districts, offering guests the “True San Francisco Experience”. As a full service conference hotel with nearly 500 rooms and over 18,000 SqFt of meeting space, we are surely not your typical Holiday Inn by far. Rising 26 stories, our hotel features brand new renovated guestrooms starting on the 6th floor, which all offer outstanding views of the City. Our flexible meeting space includes 2 Ballrooms, one of which is our Grand Emerald Ballroom with 15' ceilings.We are just a few weeks away from the completion of a $20 million renovation. All guestrooms and suites we completed in 2013 and our new state-of-the-art fitness center opened in Spring 2014 overlooking the 6th floor pool deck. On the main level, we will be bringing guests a new stylish offering in downtown San Francisco with an open digital lobby encompassed with media and laptop lounges as well as our new custom-designed restaurant and lounge featuring more the 30 wines and beers on tap. These areas will make perfect options for your attendees to be able to socialize and network over a great meal or drink before or after meetings. Also, being in the Polk Village, which is predominately residential, there are over 100 restaurants, bars and lounges within a 3-block radius, too!For venturing out and exploring all what San Francisco has to offer, the Historic cable car is located just outside the front door of the hotel. Guests can buy passes with the on-site concierge before boarding the car for a ride to Fisherman's Wharf, Union Square and Chinatown.
