The area is surrounded on the north east side by the Pollino National Park and on the south side by the Sila Plateau. The area is filled with places of cultural, historical, ethnic and environmental interests such as the archaeological excavations of Sybaris, considered the most beautiful of the Greek colonies, legendary for its richness and elegance and today one of the most interesting archaeological sites with ancient ruins and artifacts (ceramics, gold, coins), preserved in the National Archaeological Museum of Sybaritide. The whole area is strewn with important traces of Greek and Roman times and also settlements of the Bronze Age and earlier ages. You can admire the enchanting beauty of many historic urban centers, still not well known for their historical and artistic heritage. People have witnessed over the centuries the settlement of many arbëresh communities (of Albanian origin) that are rooted in the territory of the Sybaritide area and the High Ionian, characterized by strong cultural and linguistic specificities. Not less important are the mountain and marine landscapes of great environmental value for the state of integrity and preservation, such as the Massif of Pollino National Park, the Sila Plateau with lakes, long coastal beaches and sought cliffs, fascinating places for scuba diving. Multiple routes, starting from Otium Resort, reach in short distance cities like Corigliano with its castle, built by “Roberto il Guiscardo” in the 11th century, located on the highest point of the town overlooking the Plain of Sybaris.
