When we arrived at the Universal Palms Hotel, we decided that this hotel was not acceptable. We only stayed one night and then switched to a better hotel. It was not up to our standards.

"I Wasn't Pleased."

Unfortunately, I wasn't pleased. First of all, I booked 8 rooms for 2/21 and 7 rooms for 3/1 over six months ago requesting poolside rooms with king size beds. Neither poolside or king size was provided for our entire party and no explanation or compensation was offered. Additionally, the smoke detectors in our rooms went off at 5:00 am waking us all in a panic that there was some sort of emergency. When I attempted to call the front desk to alert them I discovered our room phone didn't work. Again, no compensation or even an apology was offered. My husband and I spent from 5:30 am until we boarded our cruise calling other area hotels for our return stay and were not successful in obtaining anything due to the size of our party. This is not how we planned to spend our first day of vacation! Upon our return on 3/1, once again king sized, poolside rooms were not available for our entire party and no compensation was offered. One couple was even told there wasn't a room for them! Again this reservation was made over 6 months ago and the hotel manager confirmed everything with me on more than one occasion. Even called me the day we were traveling there to confirm. The staff was extremely slow upon check-in and were not friendly at all.

"Awesome Find"

I was not sure how the day would go, but everyone seemed happy. The bar was short staffed, but the food was great and very reasonably priced. Would definitely come back.

"Awesome Customer Service!"

Traveled with a group of 36. Joel was superb at helping us arrange everything. He went above and beyond. Cindy the bartender/waitress was the best ever. She worked so hard and was so friendly and funny. I think she even came in and stayed late to take care of us. Paul went above and beyond also. He made special arrangements for us. I can't remember the names of the front desk gals that checked us in but they were also awesome and friendly. We will definitely stay again. Thank you to all the staff!

"The Best Organized Hotel Experience Ever"

From my first telephone conversation with Joel, to my arrival and departure, he was just a wonderful blessing to the entire Senior Ministry our church. We arrived on two buses and were greeted with everything ready to be handed to everyone. I have never experienced such organization ever. I loved it because we had over 90 people on those buses and they were given their keys as they departed the bus. Everyone went directly to their rooms. I expressed that several individuals did not eat pork and he had turkey bacon prepared for them for breakfast. The cook was awesome as well. I can't remember his name but he was a great cook and very pleasant. Whenever I have the opportunity to visit again I will assure you it will be the Universal Palms Hotel. I have no complaints whatsoever.

"Very Disappointing"

First of all, they advertise breakfast included, but it's not. The sink in the room for cold water is not working, it's always hot. The bathroom is rusted, water flow is not good, and the air conditioner doesn't work properly either. I will not recommend this hotel!

Universal Palms & Conference Center is conveniently located 1 block West of I-95 at Commercial Blvd. Exit 32 -mid way between Miami and West Palm Beach. Our five-story hotel is situated in the heart of Fort. Lauderdale within minutes from Ft. Lauderdale airport, down town business center, Convention Center, famous shopping centers and beautiful beaches. GUESTROOMS:The hotel boasts 195 spacious hotel rooms including 40 one-bedroom suites designed for extended stayovers. Each guestroom features a coffee maker, iron board, hair dryer, in-room safe, individual climate control, Wireless DSL, and TV with free cable and HBO. Guestrooms feature 2 Queen beds or one king bed. In addition, the suites include a kitchenette with microwave, refrigerator and sink area.
