The property itself needs a little updating. We were not real impressed with the housekeeping. Some of our rooms were not cleaned (or the housekeepers were overwhelmed by the way four teenagers keep a room and chose to skip it). We did find the hotel staff very friendly and accommodating. Dealing with key issues and other things with kindness and professionalism.

The shower wouldn't drain. We were supposed to have queen rooms. They were very small beds. Our room smelled like smoke and it wasn't a smoking room.

"Under Staffed"

For an older hotel, the appearance wasn't bad but it didn't take long to notice they were way under staffed. We did not get our room cleaned while we were there (never saw housekeeping). The bartender was also the cook. The manager was the shuttle driver when the maintenance guy was busy. The staff was very nice and accommodating. They need to fix things, but all the issues are very fixable.

The Clarion Hotel has good bones and nice staff. However, it hasn't been maintained and it's my understanding that they are in the process of bringing it up to speed. It's supposed to be a non-smoking hotel, but we had to switch rooms right off the bat because it was so smokey. The toilet didn't flush well. My other relatives had to switch rooms because of smoke, then ceiling tiles were falling in the bathroom and their toilet didn't flush either. Two of the ice machines weren't working, the spa was closed, the treadmill slowed and sped up. I truly see this as being a good hotel again, but I'd give them time to start fixing it up.

Property Description

Welcome to the South St. Paul Hotel and Conference Center. The Hotel features comfortable guest rooms for the business and leisure guests alike. The hotel offers a large conference facility and is a great venue for weddings and receptions. Conference facilities can accommodate 15 to 300 people and plenty of parking is available. Concord Bar and Grill offers variety of food and beverage and enjoy happy hours from 3pm-7pm on weekdays. After a great night’s sleep, wake up to the Belgian waffles included in our deluxe continental breakfast Monday - Friday only. Weekends full menu pricing.When it's time to say goodbye you’ll jump right back on I-494 and be on your way!The friendly staff at the South Saint Paul Hotel and Conference Center will do everything to make your stay enjoyable. Enjoy our: Indoor Pool & Jacuzzi, Free High Speed Internet, Free Deluxe Continental Breakfast Monday - Friday ONLY Weekends Full menu,Concord Bar & Grill, and Wedding & Conference Facilities.
