"Hotel was awful."
Overall Score1.0/ 5
Booked this room due to indoor pool and close to all the graduations we attended. Got in the room, besides the carpet being stained, I was okay with the room. We left for my niece's pre-graduation ceremony and got back about 9:30 ish. Went to make a bath for my two kids, there was a huge crack in the tub. When you stepped on it, it opened up. So I just put the kids in bed and called up to the front desk and told them about the crack. Due to it being so late and kids passed out in bed, I didn't change rooms, but they left a note for opening person. I called again in the am, they said they were getting a room together for us. 11am comes around and no room yet due to them still cleaning the room. So I took the kids to the indoor pool. As soon as you walk in the smell of chlorine took your breath away, but the kids saw the water and jumped in. My little boy freaked out. He said it was cold. I took my shoe off and put my feet in. It was ice cold, like a cooler with ice and water in it. Kids swam for about half hour and I had to get them out. Their teeth were chattering. I took them back to our room. My little girl's eyes were red, she started crying and screaming that her eyes were burning. I put her in the broken tub and just let the water run over her head and eyes. After about two hours of her in pain she fell asleep. Around 1:30 I called up front again, they are still cleaning the room for us. At this point I was fuming. At 3 pm I walk up front to talk to them. They told me they were still cleaning and would let us know. I asked about the pool and they told me that was normal. I was shocked. About 3:30-4pm we finally got a new room. In the time I was up front, my fiancé talked to the maintenance man and he told my fiancé that he told them about our room and they should have not given us that room due to the tub. And while I was at the front desk, someone called our room that our room was ready. No one told me this while I was up there, I found out when I got back to the room. So I had to turn around to get the new cards for our room. We finally got in our new room. Kids wanted some pizza bites. No microwave. I call back to the front desk they told me that the maintenance man would get to work on it and hadn't got to it yet, but there was a microwave in the lobby I could use. What?! I asked them, did they expect me to make a hundred trips to that microwave so I could make my kids food? Then I asked for the microwave out of our old room, they kind of huffed, but said yes. Someone brought the microwave to me. I had to hook it up. The people at front desk told me they couldn't refund any of my money for comp for the trouble. They could give two free nights at another date. I will never stay at this motel again, even if it's the only hotel left. My $50 a night hotel on side of interstate was better than this one. I will stay in Hattiesburg MS or find a different hotel (ie the Magnolia Inn). I hope this helps the Comfort Inn in Columbia, MS to raise their standards of what a hotel is or they need to lower their prices. When I pay that much money on one room I expect it to be in working order with limited stains on the carpet. I felt bad about complaining, but when it comes to the safety of my step kids I will do what it takes to keep them safe.
