My girlfriend and I were in Hemet for a softball tournament. When shopping around for the best deal on a hotel room for the weekend, the Americas Best Value Inn & Suites was recommended by the Customer Service Adviser for HotelPlanner.com. I was online as we discussed the price and location of the Motel. The pictures were very impressive and I was amazed at the price I was getting for the room. To make a long story short, when we arrived at the hotel it looked nothing like the picture online. The desk clerk informed me there was a $10.00 deposit for the room key. Unusual but not a deal breaker. When we finally got in to the room we were immediately disgusted. The room had a strong dank smell and the furniture was vintage 1970's or older. The television was a old tube TV with the worst picture I've seen in 20 years. I didn't even know those old tube TV's were still around. As we looked around the room, it seemed to get worse. My girlfriend was afraid to pull the covers on the bed down to inspect the bed. I went into the bathroom and was again shocked. The bathtub/Shower and toilet in a line on one wall and virtually right next to each other. In other words, there was maybe three or four feet of standing room. We were in the room for less than 15 minutes, just long enough to call down the street and reserve another room at the Travel Lodge. While I was prepared to take a loss on the weekend, thank goodness I was only charged for one night. HotelPlanner.com arranged a refund for the second night.
