Property Description
Rosslie's guesthouse embraces a homestead of 40 years standing, architect designed in the Cape Dutch idiom. On plan form, rooms flow one into another with the minimum of corridors. The exterio r shows white textured walls, simple gables and dark slate roofs , offset against a green garden with abundance of trees. A large pergola with vines shades the parking at the entrance, inside w hite boundary walls and black palisades. Recently another facili ty was added for the comfort of guests, by forming ramps, next t o the steps to the entrance, especially for the handling of bagg age on wheels! It so happened that, just after completion, we ha d a guest in a wheelchair who found the ramps quite convenient! The interior has clay tile floors and yellow-wood ceilings on bl ack stained beams in the living areas and kitchen; white walls a nd numerous paintings. Most of the rooms display exquisite antiq ue furniture collected over 40 years with love and distinction b y the owners. Each piece has a fond tale to tell about its origi n. Having had the benefit of 20 years in the hospitality busines s of which 16 years with 8 guest rooms, and having received gues ts from more than 50 countries, not to speak of every corner of the RSA, the art of conversation and good manners in hospitality have been tuned to make every guest comfortable. After all Ross lie's slogan is: "IT'S LIKE COMING HOME!"
