Working with sales before my event, I was pleased with the pricing and level of service I was receiving. Calling the hotel to confirm sleeping room reservations for our group two days before the event, I discovered our rooms were not entered as requested. Some rooms were marked to arrive a day earlier than requested and some were marked to leave a day earlier than needed. Unfortunately, we also had a room that was King and needed two doubles. The hotel was booked solid all weekend with sports teams and concert goers so there was no way we could get that room changed. Fortunately the young lady behind the desk all weekend was able to get a king with a couch so we could at least put the extra person on the couch. My executive suite smelled horrid of mildew. The A/C had to run constantly to keep the humidity from being completely unbearable in the room. I'd have requested a different room if I thought they had one, but already knew they did not. The meeting room was described to me as being able to fit 50 people classroom style. The lady at the desk showed me a sheet in her notebook indicating that it could hold 50 people classroom style. 1- There is no way that room could hold 40 people classroom style, much less 50. 2- The hotel does not have enough tables to even setup for 40 people classroom style, much less 50. We had 27 people in the room on Sunday morning and it was quite crowded. They put three chairs at a five foot table. Especially a group of 90% men, which I told sales in advance that our folks were nearly all men and needed elbow room. There was a group in the meeting room the day before us so it was late in the evening before I could view the room. On viewing the room, it had not been cleaned or reset from the day before. I asked if that would be done that evening. There was not enough space, tables or chairs to set for 40 people. Thankfully we had not sold out so I let it go at 30. Plus the tables were too close together to add anymore. The tables and chairs were in disrepair. One of the A/C units in the meeting room and the only one in the board room were broken. The temperature was very warm in the room the whole weekend. This is not the level of service we have come to expect from any Marriott property. I have not had this level of smell, ill preparation, disrepair, error of size estimates, etc. from any other property or brand. I am pleased to say however that all of the front desk staff that I met were friendly and helpful, including housekeeping. My need of a late check-out on Sunday was accommodated and breakfast was always hot and fresh. This helped ease some of the stay.
