The Green Bay center point is about the area of Neville Public Museum and the area of Children's Museum Green Bay.

Located at the mouth of the Fox River and bordering on Lake Michigan is Green Bay, Wisconsin, the smallest U.S. city with an NFL team. This city is rich with history. According to the earliest records, French explorer Jean Nicolet made contact with the Native Americans in the early 1600s. Soon after, fur traders and missionaries made their way to the area. The French called it "La Baye" because of its location near the water. More from this guide...

Graph: Upcoming 20 Days of Green Bay Hotel Rates

Rates shown are nightly rates before taxes and do not necessarily reflect all Green Bay, WI discounts available. The chart reflects the cheapest Green Bay hotel for each day and each star rating category.

In the mid-1700s, the family of Charles de Langlade became the first recorded family who settled permanently in present-day Green Bay. Soon after, the British took control of Green Bay but only held it for about 20 years before they lost it in the American Revolution. The Americans constructed Fort Howard in the early 1800s since the water allowed easy access to the continent through Green Bay.

During the 1850s, skilled laborers from Norway and farmers from Belgium arrived, further transforming and growing the area. When the railroad became prominent in America, the shipping industry lost some of its steam and new industries, including ironworks, took over in Green Bay.

Green Bay has thrived thanks to the natural resources and the entrepreneurial spirit of the residents. As a major shipping center with connection to the water, the city has flourished in that industry. In the early 1900s, the invention of splinter-free toilet paper marked the beginning of the ever-prevalent paper industry of Wisconsin.

What also makes Green Bay unique is that this small city owns their NFL team. The Green Bay Packers were founded in 1919 and are owned by the fans instead of one person or company.

When are the best times to visit Green Bay, WI?

Weather-wise, spring is undoubtedly the best time to visit Green Bay. The beautiful weather offers the opportunity to reconnect with nature and take advantage of all the outdoor adventures in Green Bay. Winters can be very harsh in Wisconsin, while the summers tend to be hot and humid. Fall also offers beautiful weather as well, although it tends to be warmer and more enjoyable in the spring.

During the fall, you can take advantage of Green Bay's favorite pastime by getting tickets to see the Packers play. Grab your foam cheesehead hat and see what all the fuss is about by checking out a game in Lambeau Stadium. Unfortunately, you will pay a premium for hotels during this time, but it's worth it to get to experience the atmosphere of a Packer's Game Day.

The most affordable time to visit Green Bay is during the winter when the hotel prices are at their lowest. Although the frigid temperatures will likely keep you indoors, you can take the opportunity to visit the restaurants and museums that Green Bay has to offer. If you are brave enough to head outside, you could try snowshoeing to experience the snowy weather.

The amusement park is adjacent to the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary, which is another great place to take the kids. 'Music has that ability to be a magical thing, and I was like, maybe music is the vehicle that transports us to that other world. This quote was attributed to American film director, Zachary Edward 'Zack Snyder. There are many magical things in the world and one of them could be found is Zack Snyder's hometown of Green Bay, Wisconsin. Their National Football League Team, The Green Bay Packers is by far the smallest market in North America with a major league sports team. However, the Packers enjoy one of the largest and most loyal followings in the NFL. In addition, the team holds the record number of NFL championship titles (13) and the city has been aptly known as Titletown. With so much fan fare surrounding their NFL team, tourists to Green Bay are a common sight. Together with the success of the Green Bay Packers, hotels in Green Bay have seen their businesses racked in the profits as well.
