Ocho Rios, Jamaica (population 8200) is the island's third most important region (second if you count cruise ship arrivals). It is located in a deep bowl backed by lushly vegetated hills and fronted by a wide, scalloped, white sand beach - UDC Beach (or Turtle Bay Beach) - and a reef-sheltered harbor.Offshore offers some excellent scuba diving with splendid coral formations slated to be protected within the as-yet-unrealized Ocho Rios Marine Park. Immediately east of town are other nice beaches, most of them hidden in coves that are the private domain of upscale hotels.Ocho Rios, 67 miles east of Montego Bay, is popular with cruise ships, which gleam white and omnipresent in the turquoise bay with the lush green mountains above. The centerpiece of the 42-mile stretch of Jamaica'...

This is one of the most famous shopping centers in Ocho Rios, close to the harbor... it's built as a replica of the Taj Mahal (that's where it gets its name from) and this isn't random.... the owners of the shops located there are mostly from Indian origin! I was amazed to see so many Indians in Jamaica (so far from their country!!), but they're the rich people there.... Souvenirs, beach stuff, etc... Something I didn't like from the shops in general is that people will be REALLY PUSHY in order to get you to buy something, they'll haunt you all around the store trying to make you buy everything you look at, and that's something I personally dislike a lot. Well, in fact prices are high for the kind of items you can find here... sometimes you can bargain a little, if you like such pr...

Dunn's River Falls is one of Jamaica'snational treasures. Globally, it is as wellknown as reggae and equally stimulating. There are few places where the Arawakname "Xayamaca" - land of rivers and springs - is more apt. Described as a living and growing phenomenon, it continuously regenerates itself from deposits of travertine rock, the result of precipitation of calcium carbonate from the river, as it flows over the falls.
