The First People
The Quapaw Indians were the first recorded people to inhabit this land. The first white settlers along the Arkansas River in the early 1800's complained to the government of Indians raiding their farms, stealing livestock and occasional loss of lives. Through many treaties all the Quapaw were moved out to reservations in Oklahoma by 1830 making way for many more settlers to move in. The only sign that Indians once lived here is the few stone arrowheads that are found in plowed fields or washouts.
The First Settlers
The first known settler in the park area was John Christian Heilman. The cemetery on the knoll by white Oak Bayou is marked with a monument to the graves of him and his daughter Louisa Matilda.
John came from Germany with his parents and two brothers and ran away from home at age 14. Working on a boat he came up the Arkansas River and chose this area to homestead around 1830. His first wife died leaving him with five children. He then married Jane Rosenbaum, age 17, in 1841 after giving her family a parcel of land on which to homestead. John and Jane had four boys and the girl whom only lived for two years.
John built a store which was the only one along the route between Little Rock and Fort Smith. He sold tobacco and food from the fertile land he farmed. He was also a skilled cabinet maker. He died in 1852 at the age of 46 of a coughing disease and was buried beside his daughter.

The center was established by Clinton, the 42nd President of the United States, is located in Little Rock, Arkansas and includes the Clinton Presidential Library, the offices of the Clinton Foundation, and the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service. It is the thirteenth presidential library to have been completed in the United States, the eleventh to be operated by the National Archives and Records Administration, and the third to comply with the Presidential Records Act of 1978.
It is situated on 17 acres (69,000 m2) of land located next to the Arkansas River and Interstate 30 and was designed by architectural firm Polshek Partnership, LLP with exhibition design by Ralph Appelbaum Associates. The main building cantilevers over the Arkansas River, echoing Clinton's campaign promise of "building a bridge to the 21st century". With a 68,698-square-foot (6,382.3 m2) floor plan, the library itself is the largest presidential library in terms of physical area, although the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library has the greatest space overall, due to its addition of the 90,000 square feet (8,400 m2) Air Force One Pavilion in 2005. The archives are the largest as well, containing 2 million photographs, 80 million pages of documents, 21 million e-mail messages, and 79,000 artifacts from the Clinton presidency. The Clinton Library is also the most expensive, with all funding coming from 112,000 private donations. The museum showcases artifacts from Clinton's two terms as president and includes full-scale replicas of the Clinton-era Oval Office and Cabinet Room.

MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History

Hotels Close to MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History
The MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History opened on May 19, 2001, in the Little Rock Arsenal building, located in MacArthur Park in Little Rock (Pulaski County). It contains an eclectic mix of exhibits, mostly relating to the role of Arkansas and Arkansans in various wars of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
The Little Rock Arsenal building was erected in 1840 and was once part of a major military installation just south of downtown Little Rock. Although accounts vary, many biographers of General Douglas MacArthur say that he was born in this building on January 26, 1880. (Others say he was born in one of the nearby dwellings called Officers’ Row, which is no longer standing.) The property was given to the City of Little Rock in 1892; all other buildings of the arsenal were removed or destroyed, and the land was converted into a city park. The Aesthetic Club made the arsenal building its meeting site in 1894, and the Museum of Natural History and Antiquities (later the Museum of Discovery) was housed in the building from 1942 until 1997. After the museum moved to its present location on President Clinton Avenue in the River Market District of downtown Little Rock, the building was renovated and reopened in 2001 as the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History. Renovation was delayed when a tornado struck the area on January 21, 1999; the tornado made a hole in the roof of the building but left the thick stone walls unharmed. The museum is operated under the Division of Parks and Recreation of the City of Little Rock.
Permanent exhibits in the museum include Civil War exhibits, including a room dedicated to the Camden Expedition and another room dedicated to Confederate spy David O. Dodd. A 1943 Jeep from World War II dominates another room, surrounded by documents and plaques commemorating this style of military vehicle. One room is dedicated to World War I, and another displays a portion of the museum’s collection of 4,600 photographs taken during World War II. Other rooms document the Korean War experiences of General Douglas MacArthur, the 1911 United Confederate Veterans Reunion, and the history of the Aesthetic Club. The second floor of the tower has a theater and temporary display rooms.
The museum is open six days a week, closing on Mondays and major holidays. Admission is free. Donations are accepted, and a small number of souvenirs are sold at the museum entrance.

Mount Holly Cemetery is the original cemetery in the Quapaw Quarter area of downtown Little Rock, Arkansas, and is the resting place for numerous Arkansans of note. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has been nicknamed "The Westminster Abbey of Arkansas".
The cemetery is the burial place for 10 former Governors of Arkansas, 6 United States Senators, 14 Arkansas Supreme Court Justices, 21 Little Rock Mayors, numerous Arkansas literary figures, Confederate Generals, and other worthies. Some of the notables buried at Mount Holly are:
Dr. James A. Dibrell -- Founder, Dean, and Professor of the University of Arkansas Medical School from 1886 to 1904. President of the Arkansas State Medical Society. Vice President of the American Medical Association in 1902.
Dale Alford -- U.S. Representative from 1959-1963 and noted ophthalmologist
David Owen Dodd - boy martyr of the Confederacy
Sanford Faulkner - the original 'Arkansas Traveller'
John Gould Fletcher - Pulitzer Prize winning poet
William Savin Fulton - Governor of Arkansas Territory 1835-1836, U.S. senator from Arkansas 1836-1844
Quatie Ross - the wife of Cherokee Chief John Ross
William E. Woodruff - founder of the Arkansas Gazette
There are also several slaves who are buried there, marked by extremely modest gravestones.
Every year in October several drama students from Parkview Arts and Science Magnet High School each select a person buried in the cemetery to research. They then prepare short monologues or dialogues, complete with period costumes, to be performed in front of the researched person's grave. Audiences are led through the cemetery from grave to grave by guides with candles. The event is called "Tales from the Crypt". Although it takes place around the same time as the American holiday Halloween, the event is meant to be historic rather than spooky.

Park Plaza is an upscale shopping center located in midtown Little Rock, Arkansas. Opened as an open-air shopping center in 1959[1], Park Plaza would eventually be joined in the area eight years later by University Mall.
In 1988, Park Plaza shut down completely except for Dillard's (separately owned by Dillard's, Inc.), in preparation for the mall to undergo a major overhaul. General Growth Properties, who managed the mall at the time, added a third level and a glass roof as it enclosed the structure. The mall re-opened in 1990, bringing large crowds, a second Dillard's wing, and many stores new to Little Rock and the state of Arkansas.
Stores such as Abercrombie & Fitch, Ann Taylor, Bailey Banks & Biddle, Coldwater Creek, Crabtree & Evelyn, and Gap have been among the additions over the years since the first renovation. A second renovation under new ownership by CBL & Associates Properties throughout 2005 and 2006 added new lighting, soft seating areas, an enlarged elevator, expanded restrooms, and a redesigned main entrance. The mall's Talbots location also gained an outside entrance, making it the only store aside from Dillard's to have both interior and exterior entrances available.
The mall features two Dillard's locations, with a Forever XXI store serving as a junior anchor on the mall's first level.

University Mall
Little Rock AR
~22.32 miles from Cabot city center
Hotels Close to University Mall
University Mall was a shopping center in central Arkansas which operated approximately 40 years, from the later 1960s to its closing year in 2007. When it closed, University Mall was the oldest enclosed shopping center in the Little Rock metropolitan area. Located in the central part of Little Rock, the site is situated along South University Avenue, north of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Interstate 630. The mall was managed by Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group.
The Mall was initially a huge success, but its popularity declined as new retail outlets in Little Rock drew customers away. Then the departure of its anchor stores, beginning with the bankruptcy of Montgomery Ward in 2001, left more than half the building empty. Throughout the 1990s the mall steadily declined as retailers and customers left. Due to the waning popularity and litigation involving the deterioration of the building, the mall was sold in 2007 to Strode Property Company, and the remaining few tenants were told to vacate. Demolition began for the primary structure in early 2008. Prior to this, associated buildings were razed beginning in December 2007, starting with the former Montgomery Ward auto center, as well as the former JCPenney auto center, which had been used several years as an automotive maintenance facility for the City of Little Rock.
