The Sofitel Le Sphinx is housed in a low storey modern building with white façade and located within one kilometre of Egypt's most famous attractions, the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. The 274 guestrooms have contemporary wood panelling and modern stained glass art decoration; all include high speed Internet connections, air conditioning, satellite television, bathrobes and minibars.

There is a gift shop on site for those seeking postcards and souvenirs. The pyramids and Sphinx are the nearest and best known of the many attractions Cairo has to offer (one kilometre from the hotel). Visitors can also visit the Coptic churches, 10 kilometres away, or check out the many scents and spices of the Khan el Khalili Bazaar in the city centre 23 kilometres away. Cairo International airport is 35 kilometres (22 miles) from the hotel.

Black and white taxis are available from the airport to the hotel and cost approx. 10 US dollars. Limousines cost approx. 25 US dollars and leave from outside the Arrivals hall. An airport bus service operates from Terminal 1 (Old Airport). One of the best ways to explore Cairo is by the inexpensive Metro system. Buses and minibuses are still the most common form of transport, although taxis are a better option for visitors. Boats depart frequently for University, a landing over on the Giza side of the river. Every second boat continues south to Manial, Rhoda, Giza and Masr al Qadima (old Cairo).
