Our stay was 4 nights we had decent parking every night, except the last.!the lot itself was a bit of a hassle but its do-able, last night here we have to park under a bypass, not too happy about that but we shall see how that pans out....the hotel itself is OK I am picky about where I lay my head and after reading reviews I was hesitant to stay, but our friends reserved the room for us so we stuck with it with fingers crossed! We were able to upgrade no problem and the room was decent other than the trash left by the guest before us in between the bed and the night stand. The bathroom seemed clean for the most part yet I still sprayed it with Lysol because it seems the minimum cleaning to get by is how it was handled. Staff seemed nice, breakfast nice as well. View of the water and bypasses not too much but not bad. Had a nice view of fireworks Friday night. First night we stayed we had our tag out as to not have room cleaned yet we came back and the bed was made....also the rooms are hardly sound proof but I wouldn't say I had a bad experience with noise just loud doors no biggie. The ice machine seemed anciet and yucky, the fitness room seemed ancient also and on the smoking floor...really?! Bed was comfy, fridge (although freezer was dirty) microwave etc were convienient, good lighting in rooms nice colors great black out curtains to keep out sun (and cute at that). Bummed the pool wasn't ready yet. To sum it up, if I got the SAME room I would most likely come back here again it isn't a BAD place just not perfect or close to, but could have been better and could have been worse. That is why my review is mixed. :) overall not bad. Better than I expected after some of the reviews. « less

The hotel parking is quite lacking. Unless you have found a spot in their tiny lot by early evening, you will probably have to park in the next door bank's lot and then get up early to move your car. Housekeeping did not leave any toilet paper in my room, and they were out of washcloths one morning for some reason. Then on the day of checkout, their computer or printer wasn't functioning, and I had to personally go to the desk for my receipt.
There were a lot of hassles, more than I'd rather have on a vacation. However, the building itself is nice, and the interior up to date. Continental breakfast is pretty good, and the rooms do have microwave and fridge. Location is right across the street from the VA facility, and near the MUSC campus. If you like walking, downtown Charleston is a reasonable walk from the hotel. « less

hotel is clean, staff helpful. breakfast was average but changed hot items each day. the items were constantly kept stocked. mattress was a little softer than I like. there was a small refrigerator and microwave in the room. best of all there was an outlet at the base of the nightstand light so I could plug in my computer and work while sitting in bed.
free trolley to visitors center and downtown stops right next door. yes parking is tight but we did get a space when we arrived at 4pm and with free trolley never had to move the car. there is a burger king near by along with a Wendy's and mcdonalds. va hospital is across the street. I would stay here again when I am in Charleston. « less

I reserved a suite with 2 queen beds for a bachelorette party. The room was much larger than I expected, and was perfect for 5 girls to get ready and pregame in before going downtown for dinner and drinks. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. The view from the window was nothing and the location wasn't ideal. However, the front desk recommended 7 Star Luxury taxi service which was a flat rate of $3 per person downtown, which was cheaper than the $5 rate for the other taxi service. The breakfast was nothing to rave about, but did include freshly made waffles which I especially enjoy. The room was a little pricey for my normal vacation budget, but we splurged a little bit for the special occasion. « less

Stayed at hotel with 5 other families for the Cooper River Bridge Run. The stairway leads to an outside door by Bee Street that does not lock! Anyone off the street can come in the door and go up to any floor in the hotel. As parents we went down the stairs and checked it out. Yes there is a lock on the door, but it does not work. I was concerned about safety since anyone can get to any floor in the hotel! « less
