Comfortable king bed, spacious room, nice bathroom (shower stall), clean, nicely appointed. We were late to arrive for breakfast but nobody seemed to mind and they let us eat a liesurely meal, which was excellent! Also, the breakfast room was quite beautiful.
Staff was unbelievably accommodating, from front desk person to lady who got us a cart from the second floor, to the breakfast manager/cook, Stacey, to Jay (not sure of his position) to all the cleaning staff! Really nice, welcoming folks -- can't say enough about their southern hospitality!
Would go out of my to stay here again if we are in the area in the future! « less

We choose Best Western because it was on the Va/NC line. Clean hotel and comfortable beds. Liza Williams was so helpful. She went out of her way to look up directions for the diner and even wrote them down for me. The attendant for breakfast was very friendly. Would stay again if we are in the area. « less

I was looking for a short overnight between Winston-Salem and Petersburg, VA, so I could get an early start at the battlefields the next day. I located this motel on the AAA mobile app which shows recommended hotels en route--very convenient--and then double checked on Trip Advisor. I considered some cheaper places in Petersburg itself, but was very glad to have stopped at South Hill--50 minutes south--when I saw how dismal and uninviting they were as we passed by the next day.
This is not a super deluxe hotel, but it is very convenient to I-85 and fully adequate for an overnight stay. The receptionist was warm and chatty and processed me in quickly. The room was freezing when I got in--someone hadd set it to 60 degrees--but quickly adjusted by the old-fashioned AC to a reasonable temperature. The bed and pillows were comfortable and everything was clean. The large sink area is useful for 2 people.
The breakfast was billed as "continental" but was actually much more--scambled eggs (that weren't dried out), bacon, sausage, grits, fruit, bagels, cinnamon buns, cereal, and toast. One of the attendants came over and stirred the grits to make sure they were not congealing--how often do you see that? Wifi all over the motel and in the breakfast room allowed me to plan my day's activities.
Well recommended for the weary traveler looking for a comfortable and inexpensive ($71.99 with AAA and AARP overnight. « less

I had a hard time deciding on how far I could travel on a road trip and played it safe by choosing a hotel close to the interstate not far over the NC line. I based my decision on TripAdvisor reviews and am very glad I did. I was very pleased with my stay. This is obviously not a brand new hotel but it is updated with very nice details and feels fresh and new. The room was very clean and they make it obvious that that take clean room seriously with their "clean remote" pledge (I've never seen that before) and clearly posting a sign announcing a $250 cleaning fee if someone smokes in the non-smoking room. The room was pretty. I was very glad to see a white duvet on the bed (rather than a bedspread that is rarely washed). The room had a microwave and refrigerator - which I took advantage of. The vanity area was attractive with granite countertops. The bathroom had a tiled floor and the curved shower curtain rod that is so much nicer than earlier shower rod design. The receptionist was very friendly at check-in and she also happened to be working the breakfast room the next morning. Check-out was fast, efficient and friendly. The eating area is very nice - as are the other common rooms in the hotel. It's been a while since I've stayed at a Best Western so I didn't know what to expect re the "free" breakfast. They are often carb-heavy cold items but this buffet included eggs, sausage, sausage gravy, biscuits, hot waffles along with the typical cereals and fruit. Wifi was available with a fast internet speed and easy set-up. All of this with a reasonable price. I am very pleased with my choice and can highly recommend this hotel. « less

Dear Onemoreroad: We hear at the Best Western Plus are always remodeling and updating the property in order to provide the ultimate guest experiences. We have not only added the “Clean Remote”, White Duvets, Curved Shower Rods, Granite Countertops, but now we are adding handmade, by local craftsmen, 36 inch custom Headboards. Behind the scenes we are implementing utilizing Ultra Violet Sterilization Wands in order to sanitize frequently touched points. All of these updates, plus the complimentary hot breakfast, each morning are provided during your stay with us at a price that is affordable. Respectfully: JayR
