Hotel is convenient and staff is friendly and accomodating. Price is reasonable, and the continental breakfast makes the stay an excellent value.

We have no choice. We have to keep coming back. If you are in Colchester (and after a decade, I still don't know where that actually is).
Over the years, I have not been very kind to the Days Inn. The carpets were shabby, and the place had a feel of neglect. But it's a big place, and it was probably a different chain decades ago. Days Inn has done what they can with this location, and it has taken time. But they have done most of the job.
New Carpets! That was the big thing I noticed upon check in. That gives them a one star increase right off the bat.
New Coat of Paint! Still had that New Paint Smell.
Same old reliable Continental Breakfast in the kitchen area.
The rooms facing the street are nice enough. Very close to the College campus. Right across the street so that you can see the entrance from the deck. The rooms facing the parking lot have a nice view of the gorge below, but you also see the parking lot. There is a hydro dam that you can clearly see as you are heading toward the highway exit heading North. It's a fascinating natural area, which is what I love about Vermont. Even the drab sometimes can look a little picturesque.
It's still an average hotel. The money spent on much-needed carpets, could have also gone in to new toilet flush handles. Ours was devoid of faux chrome - where the hand touches the handle. Little things that let you know how old and how cheap this place is/was.
The toilet had problems flushing, good times. Not critical mass, but a slight concern upon departure. Bed was comfy. TV was nice. Staff was polite, efficient and friendly,
Still a good deal for the price, and still a good location. « less

Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review of the Days Inn in Colchester. As you are a repeat and valued guest of ours, I am glad to read that you noticed all of the effort that has been put into our renovations over the winter months. In addition to the beautiful new carpet and paint, we also completely renovated 39 of our guest rooms with new furniture, carpet, paint, lighting, pictures, and couches in our 12 loft suites. We purchased new flat screen televisions for all of our guest rooms and will complete our renovations in the next two weeks with a new pool liner. We have added new equipment in our fitness room and have updated the lighting in all of the public areas and hallways. We remain committed to our green efforts and continue to utilize our solar panels for heating our water and providing electricity. In addition, since your stay in the summer of 2012 we added fresh bagels, yogurt and hard boiled eggs to our complimentary breakfast selection which already included cereal, muffins, toast, oatmeal, fruit and fresh waffles. Thank you for pointing out that we still have some work to do. I will make sure the maintenance engineer replaces the toilet handle that has lost the chrome and ensure that all of the toilets flush properly. Although there are many hotels to choose from in the Colchester/Burlington area, I sincerely appreciate the fact that you continue to stay at the Days Inn - Colchester.

Stayed there due to closeness of husband's dr. apt. Outside was ok but had to go around the back for the entrance. Desk staff outside socializing and smoking not only at arrival but also several times when we went to the front area to go outside or to get something. Floor in bathroom squeaked with every step. Room itself was ok, not great, just ok. Pool water was cloudy and there was a green ring on the walls and top step. Liner was very wrinkled. Bed was comfortable. Rooms did have some with balconies but we did not have one of them. Breakfast consisted of coffee, juice, cereal, breads and yogurt. No hot foods. They did allow pets with a $10.00 fee for each one which is a plus. « less

I want to thank you for taking the time to share your comments and concerns with me. It is great to hear that our mattresses are comfortable and that you appreciate the fact that we have pet friendly rooms. Our deluxe Day Break Breakfast has expanded over the past year to include fresh bagels, yogurt, eggs in addition to our hot waffles, four types of cereal, fresh fruit, muffins, toast, and oatmeal. Although we do not have a restaurant onsite, we hope that the complimentary breakfast we do provide starts your day off right. I appreciate you bringing the lack of professionalism to my attention regarding the staff members socializing and smoking by the entrance. I have already addressed this with my front desk and housekeeping staff members and I will continue to closely monitor this situation. I appreciate your feedback regarding the pool. We are waiting for our new pool liner to arrive within the next two weeks so that we can completely renovate our pool area in order to better serve our swimmers. I sincerely hope that you will allow my staff and I another opportunity to serve you as we continue to improve our quality and service.

My husband was having surgery the next morning. We were in Room 106. People in room above us were stomping around all night long. We called the Front Desk at 2am. Stomping stopped for 30 minutes and then resumed. We got very little sleep. The pool, above the water line, was filthy! When hotel door was closed, could see light all around it. So sounds from the hallway came right through. Door did not fit doorframe. « less

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience. I sincerely apologize that your experience was not as wonderful as it truly should have been due to the noise from the guest above you. I appreciate the fact that you contacted the front desk and that we were able to address the situation for you. I certainly wish that you had notified the front desk when the noise began again as we have a very strict noise policy. Our pool liner is in the process of being replaced within the month of May and I have forwarded your maintenance concern to my lead engineer. I sincerely hope that you will give my staff and I another chance to host you so that you can see that we truly listen to our guests comments and will ensure your next stay has the Award Winning quality and service that we are recognized for.

I sincerely apologize for the condition of the pool liner and that your stay was before our new pool liner was installed as a new liner is scheduled to be installed within the next two weeks. I also apologize for any ants that made their way into our breakfast room. I have advised my maintenance engineer of this concern so that it can be immeidately addressed. I certainly hope that the rest of your stay was comfortable and that you enjoyed our newly renovated rooms, fitness room, business center and free WiFi.
