I was looking for a reasonably priced place to stay for one night because I didn't want to risk missing a connection from Tasmania to my international flight from SYD to the USA. Because the flight from Tasmania arrived in the afternoon, I wanted to be within walking distance of Circular Quay. (A nonissue as it turned out--a pre-monsoon rain!) The best value for my purposes seemed to be Medina Classic Martin Place, in spite of the fact that it was clearly described as a business apartment hotel. It was perfect!!
If I ever had business in Sydney, I would definitely stay in one of these apartments--especially if an extended stay were required. It's centrally located--for business and for evening dining in "The Rocks" or along Circular Quay. My one-bedroom apartment was well laid out, well-stocked, clean and quiet. Please be clear, this is a business hotel; there is nothing close to concierge service. I found the young men at the desk to be polite enough, but definitely not service oriented--even for a night clerk. (I arrived c. 4:30 p.m. on a Friday. The staff during a week-day might be better trained.) Fortunately, I had arranged for my taxi-driver from the airport to pick me up the next morning. I doubt that the desk person would have been much help.
One point though, this address is tucked in an alley. Because several TA reviewers indicated that even taxi drivers had trouble finding the address, I had called the manager a couple of days beforehand (obtained from my Booking.com reservation confirmation), and asked for explicit driving directions. I gave them to my driver and he came right to the door with no problems. Suggestion: Do not use a shuttle service (with their little trailers they'd never make it, and grouse about it loudly), and provide the driver with written directions.
Enjoy the terrace! (See photos.)
One night; January 2013.
[Addendum. After writing this, I read some of the more recent reviews. I had forgotten about the high wall around the shower. I'm a "sr. citizen" with bad knees and had no problem because there was a grab-bar; but I have long legs. I can see how it would be a problem for shorter people. I had to chuckle re all the negative comments re the stationary showerhead. In the USA one rarely finds an adjustable showerhead!] « less

I booked medina cause I had a very good expereience in Adina Frankfurt, but turned out Media is nothing like Adina.
I stayed there for three nights in Oct, 2012. Location is ok, CBD hidden alley sort of thing. I got back to my room after dinner, it was late like 11PM...and there was no water in the shower. They spent 2 hours + trying to fix it, but failed. I was so tired and angry. Hotel was full, I could't change my room. So I went to bed at 2 AM without a shower and woke up at 6 cause the clock was ringing again and again and I coudn't turned it off. (Turned out the clock was connected to the system or something and they had to cancel it from the reception). The gave me breakfast to go the next day as a compensation for everything...which is of very low quality. I didn't even bother to eat it.
They fixed the water thing the next day, but there was no hand shower in the bath...it is fixed on the wall. Very hard to have a good shower cause I am tall enough. Hated it!
With the price I paid, I was expecting something much better!
By the time I checked out of the hotel, I found that there is another apartment hotel with a lower price and excellent quality in the CBD area!
I will not recommend this hotel to any of you...Seriously! « less

We spent one night here so we weren't really using this accommodation as a serviced apartment but we found this place very clean, comfortable and convenient. The hotel is located very centrally so it is great for accessing the city. The staff were friendly and generally helpful.
In terms of a serviced apartment, the room had good facilities that you would expect in a serviced apartment although we did not like the shower. The shower head was placed at about eye level for me (and I am not tall) this would make having a shower for tall people extremely difficult. While the shower was tolerable for one night, I imagine it would be a point of frustration for guests staying for longer periods. « less

Stayed here for 4 nights. Location is very private, off the main street, don't be put off by this. Room clean and tidy, lots of facilities available- kitchen fully equipped, dining table and nice sized living area. We found it confusing to find Foxtel, later on to find instructions in the folder left on the desk. Shower is quite awkward to get into as well, plus the shower head doesn't adjust, so had to duck a few times. Overall, it is in a really good location- close to Syd Harbour and not far from Darling Harbour, Pitt St shopping etc « less

Stayed here for 7 nights. As a nice central clean private location it's hard to beat. The apartments are well furnished with everything you need - including washing machine, tumble dryer, fully stocked kitchenette etc etc. Handy to get to via the rail system on various lines - Wynyard station is a 5 minute walk, Martin Place slightly closer. Harbour bridge and Opera house are about a 10 minute walk. There is a 7-Eleven convenience store a few minutes away and a Coles express slightly further up George st to stock up on everything you need. Helpful reception staff. Very clean rooms, foyer, lift and landings outside rooms. Some noise early in the morning from the garbage collection in Hosking place but hey - it's a city. I would definitely stay here again. « less
