My stay at the Best Western Hawthorne Terrace in Chicago was the best hotel experience I have ever had. From the moment I walked in the door to check in until the moment I Ieft: I had service beyond my expectations. From the manager to the employee setting up the continental breakfast, I could not expect any better service. The hotel and rooms were beautiful. Every aspect of the rooms from the hardwood floors to the great walk in rain showers. I look forward to my next stay at this hotel and won't stay anywhere else in Chicago. « less

Location and building is beautiful. Things ran smoothly, or the staff jumped in and made it right in a heartbeat. Always welcomed with genuine concern for our happiness...great to feel like an establishment actually appreciates your patronage. And, we can't say enough about the Ann Sather's cinnamon roles (a local pastry shop provides the free breakfast munchies...a local treasure!).
Thanks for the great stay. Can't wait to come back & visit Chicago, again! « less

I was in Chicago on business and needed to make last-minute hotel arrangements. It was almost midnight and the first few I called were completely booked. This one was reasonable and seemed not too far out though I was unsure of the neighborhood. I called and they had only smoking rooms so I feared the worst. When I arrived I was immediately impressed. They have no parking lot but on-street parking was abundant. The hotel is in a historic neighborhood called Bryn Mawr which I found rather quaint and nice. The exterior of the property is beautifully landscaped and decorated and the interior is warm and inviting. Service was polite and courteous if not friendly. The whole place has the look of a restored early 1900's mansion converted into a hotel, which IMHO adds to its charm. The room was quiet and at the end of the hall (I always recommend higher floors and away from the street if possible). It was spacious and modern with plenty of workspace. I could detect no odor of smoke at all in the room (not so for the hallway). The bathroom featured a marble pedestal sink of the type normally found only in 4-5 star hotels costing twice as much. The bed was very comfortable with a nice array of pillows and blankets. Everything seemed fresh and clean and I felt very much at home. Overall, I was very pleased with my stay and this will be my hotel of choice whenever I visit Chicago in the future. « less

We stayed at the Best Western Plus Hawthorne Terrace Hotel from 28 March 2013-5 April 2013. We are from Australia and this was our first time in Chicago.
Pros:
The hotel itself, particularly outside, is homely.
On check-in there was an issue with our reservation (which was the fault of our travel agent, not the hotel), followed by issues with our initially allocated room. Front-of-house dealt admirably with the situation, to our satisfaction.
Our room upgrade (see below).
The hotel's location is a big plus. It is in the heart of Boystown and within easy walking distance to the bars and clubs on Halsted Street. On Broadway Avenue, where the hotel is located, there is a Starbucks, Walgreens and a 24hr diner, as well as many shops to browse (including the fabulous bookstore, Unabridged Books).
The hotel is also an easy walk to the El Red Line Addison stop, which we took the train daily to get to the Magnificent Mile, Downtown and Chicago's many attractions. CTA buses travel up and down Halsted St.
Cons:
When we got to our initially room, it reeked with cigarette smoke. After about 15mins in our room, police had to be called to deal with an assault taking place in the room next to our room. We could hear the shouting and assaults going on in that room! We complained to front-of-house and, without fuss, we were upgraded to a suite, room no. 426 (in the 2nd building of the hotel) for the whole of our stay.
The hotel serves a daily complimentary breakfast, but it is limited in variety and it is certainly nothing special.
Daily room cleaning is offered, but some days our room was not cleaned.
Summary:
Overall, we would stay at the Best Western Plus Hawthorne Terrace again. We recommend you book a suite instead of standard room. The standard rooms are just that-standard-and one can hear the goings-on in neighbouring rooms.
The big factor in the hotel's favour is its location. « less

Staying at the Best Western Hawthorne Circle is easy. The rooms are quiet and comfortable. Parking is right next door and breakfast is included. The front desk is always helpful and pleasant. Only challenge- as a non- smoker, we always get a non-smoking room but the smell of smoke from smoking rooms lingers in the hallway and elevator. « less
