My husband and I stayed here while we were in St Petersburg for a long weekend. We arrived as part of a large tour group and found check in was very quick and efficient with the reception staff able to speak English. The concierge is very helpful and recommended a restaurant for us to visit as well as answering a few general questions we had about what sights to see and using the metro. We were in room 344 which was a large and very clean room. The beds were comfortable enough and there was enough storage space for our clothes. The only criticism I have about the room is the shower - It is not a separate cubicle therefore the bathroom floor ended up soaking wet every time the shower was used! The location of the hotel is fantastic. It is situated right at the end of the Nevsky Prospect which is the main street that runs right through the heart of the city. The metro and train station was a 5 minute walk from the hotel which is ideal if you are arriving from Moscow. There is a large shopping mall just around the corner from the hotel which has a lot of recognisable brands and a large food court on the 4th floor. Shopping in St Petersburg however is very expensive with a kids t-shirt from Next costing about £20 when it would only cost about £8 in the UK! We found it easy enough to walk to all of the sights as most of them are off of the Nevsky Prospect. It is a very long walk but is an enjoyable way to see the city and there are plenty of bars and cafes to stop for refreshments on the way. We also used the mtero when we were there and found this to be an efficient and inexpensive way to travel. I was pleasantly surprised by just how beautiful the city was and found our weekend there thoroughly enjoyable. « less

This hotel is an ideal location for the hub of St Petersburg with many attractions a mile or so away. It is by no means a 4 star hotel in terms of UK standard but as our room 345 was clean, big enough for the two of us we didn't have any complaints. Personally thought wifi was decent enough as our room was close to a router and used the free one. They do state the speed of both.
Staff in the reception do try to help though surprised that some spoke very little English even though the hotel does advertised it. So sometimes it was hard to get your message across.
Had one evening meal in the restaurant and like most St Petersburg's venues you need to ask for non smoking if you do not. Dinner was good price considering it is a hotel restaurant. Though there is a hint of smoking smell even at breakfast time if you sit in the smoking areas. Personally I liked breakfast though found as there was several big groups staying in the hotel the later you are, the quieter it is.

What is really super with this hotel - location, just few steps from Moskovskii railway station, center of the city, metro station is very close to hotel (5 minutes ). I have standard room. Room not big, but clean, furniture is new, shower very simple. No bath acessories at all. Free wi-fi working perfect. Breakfast i did not like at all, one time i order meal to the room, just for service 150 RUB, quality of meal so so. For business stay for several days hotel is perfect if you need something more, may be you have to take higher level of the room. « less

PROS--perfect location...situated on the starting end of nevsky prospect which is the main avenue in st. petersburg...a very short 5 min walk from the rail station if coming from moscow...train station is just across the hotel...a 10 min walk to galeria mall which is quite big and where you can find familiar brands...for beer lovers, the hotel has a paulaner distillery that serves fresh german beer CONS--no kits in the toilet except for towels and liquid soap...the operator doesn't seem to understand english very well...water in the sink is slow to rescind « less

My main problems were poor service at breakfast and a fee of 200 roubles for registration, which I did not pay in Moscow. Also the rooms are kept very hot and even with window open I felt as though I was in a sauna. Decent, free Internet. Rooms on the small side. Service quite decent overall. Highly recommend the Moscow restaurant which is close by as well as cafe du nord. « less
