A group of girlfriends and I stayed at Loews New Orleans for a bachelorette party. We were in 2 separate rooms on separate floors as one of us was upgraded since she had a business association with Loews Hotels. The main differences between the 2 deluxe rooms was more area space, the addition of a bathtub, and the views (both views were great, in my opinion -- one had a view of the bridge and surrounding buildings; the other had a view of Poydras Street and the river).
We had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The beds were extremely comfortable, and gracious amenities were supplied to us (local beer and food, bright pink feather boas since we were a bachelorette group, wine, and chocolate) in both rooms. Whenever we needed additional services or had requests/concerns, staff were very quick to respond and assist us. The valets and doormen were extremely friendly and helpful whenever we needed a taxi and/or directions and always held the door open for us.
I wasn’t a fan of the in-house restaurant; it was pricey and nothing to write home about. I only went for breakfast the very day I was leaving for the airport. The service was fine, but I’d recommend going somewhere else to eat if you can (see my suggestions at the end of the review). The Swizzle Stick Bar, however, is a nice place to relax before calling it a night (or, if you need to wait for your friends in the morning while they’re still waking up/getting ready). The bartenders were friendly, provided good conversation, and made delicious drinks.
As far as location, I think it served us pretty well. We walked the majority of the time and only used public transportation late at night and to/from the airport. The hotel is 2-3 blocks from a St. Charles (where you can hitch a ride on the streetcar), and a block from Canal. The famous Mother’s Restaurant is across the street and ½ block over, but try to get there before the queue starts! I highly recommend going to Luke on St. Charles for any meal -- they have a delicious brunch, happy hour oysters from 3pm-5pm, and a delicious dinner menu. « less

I was here on a business trip and was so happy that it was centered so close to the water, as well as Bourbon Street! The service here was perfect on all levels! So helpful, whether it was trying to find places in the city, or needing help hailing a cab, there were there 100%. The room was beautiful, spacious, with a great view. Highly recommend to anyone travelling to the city! « less

My husband and I stayed here again for the third time. The service was just as wonderful as the first two times. We had a suite that wasn't as big as the last time, and it was still a wonderful room. The beds are always comfy and the pillows are just right. The hotel isn't in the French Quarter but it's a short walk away. We like the area because we are more day drinkers than night drinkers on vacation and we don't stay out terribly late. It also seems safer and less shady than the French Quarter. It's right next to Harrah's and close to the river. And there is a mall area on the river than has a Cafe du Monde annex and there is never a wait for beignets or chicory coffee. The Swizzle Stick bar has great drinks and specials, including 25 cent martinis with your lunch entrees. Fantastic. I still absolutely recommend this hotel for your trip to New Orleans. « less

We enjoyed our recent stay at this hotel. The staff members were courteous and very helpful. And I loved the location -- walking distance to everything without right smack in the middle of the revelry. It's a splurge, but a good splurge. « less

I stayed here with a group of children who were on a choral tour. We had several rooms and they all were booked quad occupancy...this sounded scary at first, but the rooms are very large -- so not a problem at all. Our over-sized bathroom had a shower and a separate tub...and we actually were able to get 4 girls ready for the day with no problem. Our room came equipped with a Keurig coffee maker which was a nice touch.
There are multiple nearby attractions and dining options which makes this a plus: near the casino, 2 blocks from Riverwalk (go to the Cafe du Monde here, never a line!), around the corner from Fulton Street, a block or 2 from the Shops at Canal, and most importantly: a block from Mother's Restaurant!
This is a fine place to stay if you want to walk or trolley to the Quarter instead of stay in it; also plenty to do nearby if someone in the party is on business. And if traveling with kids - its a short walk to the Audubon Aquarium, and the other museums are further up river. « less
