James, James, James! It was quite refreshing to deal with this professional from the beginning to the end. I can't recall the last time I checked in and out with the same person! He was a wealth of information and was extremely personable to both my business associate and I! We won a free pizza and he called down to the restaurant to make sure it'd be ok for us to eat there and not have it delivered to our room (as, I gather, is usually the case but I like to experience local things). He then took the time to clearly lay out what we'd need to do to see everything we wanted to see!
The hotel itself is very well kept, clean, and comfortable. I read other reviews that dinged it for having small rooms which is something I've never understood - how much time are you spending in your room? In New York City?!?! Breakfast the next morning was standard HIE fair that I've come to expect - delicious as always! The support staff was extremely friendly as well! We walked several blocks to and from the subway both in daylight and at night. The neighborhood seemed safer then a previous stay in Queens at a different Holiday Inn.
Know that the hotel sits across from a waste disposal facility. If you don't want to be woken up at 0530 then make sure you're heater/ac unit is running. It was what I needed to do to drown out the noise and get another hour worth of shut eye.
I mentioned that to James upon check out and he told me to call him personally before my next stay to ensure I have a room that faces away from that facility. The other side of the hotel faces a nice playground which made me miss my kids!
This hotel needs MORE stars and I wish I could give them! If I ever get back to the area I have no doubt where I'll stay! « less

Stayed 5 nights in Brooklyn for a wedding over the weekend. The location isn't too bad I suppose. New York is just really Grimey. At first, I admit, I was a bit timid to leave the hotel (to walk to get food, subway, etc..) because its on a road without any other "businesses", but within a half-mile walk, you can reach Barclay Center (home of The Nets NBA team), where there is a Subway Stop to get you anywhere in the city.
The Hotel was Very, Very Clean! The breakfast was the best part, which was til 10:30am, so you still had time to sleep-in for the most part. They have a complimentary REAL breakfast with everything from cheese omlettes, to fruit, 4 types of cereal, hot cinnamon rolls and doughnuts (you can sneak up to your room for later;) etc etc.
The room while small, is TYPICAL for New York. It had everything u need to get by, including coffee and tea even. A surplus of towels and washclothes, shampoos and lotions, the bathroom was STOCKED. The room was immaculate. I even watched the ladies make the room up (they asked if i would like them to come in a straighten up and I said, "sure," and I'm glad I did:) Along with all the professional staff downstairs, everyone was incredible I felt. There were 6 pillows, Big Fluffy NEW Pillows on the bed, and the room stayed warm (an actual themostat was on the wall, not just on the heater/cooler connected to the wall itself). It was surprisingly quiet for the most part, which I had brought earplugs just in case (being unfamiliar with the area). Not needed.
I Hated the elevator; it would go up and down no matter what order/floor it was pressed first it seemed like. So that is my only real complaint, and other than the room being around $180 a night -which in New York, IS more expensive they say, Nebraska.
We had a room with 2 Full Beds which took up 70% of the room, but maybe that helped me feeling "cushy," i dunno, I'm weird, lol. My other family who only had one bed, had a good amount of room in their rooms I felt. -Moral is, I felt homey here, watching TV and waking up to a newspaper at the foot of my door every morning, and an amazing Holiday Inn breakfast to boot! Extremely responsive staff made my vacation a success! Thanks Guys:) « less

My husband, our daughter and I stayed here for two nights two weeks ago. Like other reviewers, we can only speak in glowing terms about the staff. The rooms, however, are extremely small--smaller than any hotel room we have ever been in. But room size isn't the worst point. The walls truly are so thin we could hear each breath and scream of the baby in the room next door--and the baby screamed well into the wee hours of the morning. Between the baby and the slamming room doors, we got so little sleep it was hard to think. We were supposed to spend three nights here, but we were able to move to the Fairfield Marriott the last night. The Fairfield was spectacular, and only 1/2 block away. It is located in the middle of an industrial block--very strange. If you want to sleep, don't stay here. « less
