We had a wonderful stay at the Founders Inn and Spa. The front desk staff was polite and helpful and the grounds were very attractive. We especially enjoyed the pool and hot tub. While we did not use the spa, the facility is shared with the pool, and the whole feel is very ritzy and upscale. The room was great, as well - soft beds and an enormous flatscreen TV. I especially liked the matching drapes and comforters and felt like I was staying in a nice guest room, rather than a conventional hotel. Would stay here again if I'm back in the area. « less

Let me set the scene. The buildings, interior and exterior, are designed to look as if they were from Colonial times. The grounds were nice, with beautiful gardens with a small pond complete with swan. But the room was in need of a lot of touch up, for example, the door paint was peeling badly, the bathtub was in need of repair. The air conditioner was way too loud and raddled. We could hear doors slamming into the night. The staff was friendly, if not overly friendly... trying just a bit too hard, just not polished. The restaurant, the Swan Terrace, has a great green salad. I highly recommend it. But just stop there and go somewhere else for the rest of your meal. The service is slooow. The bottom line - if you choose to stay here, have low expectations. « less

Very nice ground. My wife fell in love with the garden with sculptured trees and lawn. The ground is impressive to say the least. Our room is on building three. Parking is a bit far from our room. We have one small window, which I guess is because of the hotel colonial theme. Everything could have been perfect if not for the broken ice machine in the 3rd floor and absent of the microwave in our room. One more thing I can complement is the free bottled water in our room. The bed and pillows were very nice. Will stay here again. « less

My husband and I stayed at the Founders Inn & Spa April 15th 16th 2013. It was our first time there and definitely not our last. To say it was the finest and most relaxing place we have ever stayed is an understatement. We stopped there on our way back from Myrtle Beach. Our room was excellent, clean, and the beds were sooo comfortable. There were bottles of water in the room for us. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. The Inn is beautiful! The food was excellent The grounds were very well kept. The price was sooo reasonable. We paid only $70.00 plus tx(AARP rate). We have paid much more for much less at other places. This place is just steps from Regents University and the CBN Studio located behind the Inn. Both of these are also a treat to visit and tour. The Inn is only minutes from the beach. We only had two nights left on our vacation or we would have definitely stayed more. We did not want to leave. We highly recommend this place. « less
