This was our second visit in 8 months and happy to report that we had another satifying experience. After spending way too much time at the FLL airport looking for lost luggage, the free hotel shuttle picked us up about 25 minutes after calling the hotel. The reception area was clear when we arrived so we got checked in very promptly. (we had prepaid a few months ago to get a better rate). The sweet lady at the front desk even offered us toiletries when she found out we had no luggage. We asked that they call us when the airline brought our luggage to the hotel and she asked "anytime of night?" and we said yes please, anytime of night. Found our room on the third floor. The room was dated but clean. Flat screen TV, coffee maker, desk and chair, free WIFI. Went walking that evening looking for a place to have dinner. Right behind the hotel is a mall with 30 or so stores. K Mart a 10 minute walk. Felt safe walking even at dusk. Found a cute diner beside K Mart and dinner was delicious, (Moonlite Diner). Returned to hotel and tried to relaxed but worried about the luggage. I called the front desk at midnight, still no luggage.... at 1am, got a call from the young man at the front desk apologized for calling so late but our luggage was dropped off. I though it was cute that he apologized for calling late even after I asked them to call. Never got an apology from Jet Blue... Breakfast is okay. Waffles, biscuits and gravy, donuts, pastries, juices, coffee. We didn't use the shuttle to port since we were actually going to the Port of Miami and my brother who came in late the night before had rented a car, but they did offer a shuttle for the price of $60 per couple. If we are sailing out of Ft Lauderdale or Miami again, we will certainly stay here! « less

Ok, we stayed in FLL on 2 separate 1 night stays and both hotels were listed on hotwire as 2 ½ stars and my review for both starts out about the same. I’d say that overall the Comfort Inn Airport/Cruise Port South was a nicer hotel than the Best Western Hollywood/Adventura, Hallandale, FL.
We stayed here on 05/04/2013, for 1 night prior to a cruise. We booked on hotwire via the secret hot-deals and only paid $46.00 for the night for 2 adults including free parking, wi-fi, and hot breakfast. HELLO…Did I mention FREE parking, wi-fi, and hot breakfast (including sausage/eggs).
On a positive note: we apparently got one of the upgraded newly renovated rooms and we were comfortable in the room. Nice paint colors, décor, and updated bathroom. Also we asked for a king bed and got 2 full sized beds instead. Oh well, just more room to play!!
As noted in other posts: this hotel has outside walkways more like those at a Motel 6 or Super 8 motel however we felt completely safe and secure with the door bolted/latched.
The breakfast was typical cheap hotel fare but it was plentiful with lots of options. NO ONE should go hungry eating here because if nothing else one could have fruit/yogurt, toast, and orange juice. The sausage and eggs didn’t look all that appealing to me so I didn’t try them but my boyfriend did. I still can’t tell you if they were good or not because he scarfed his down so fast he likely didn’t even taste them. At least you know they’re edible!!
As to location: hotel is about 2 miles from FLL just off Hwy 95 near a shopping plaza and places to eat within walking distance. The area overall seemed fairly safe. I’d feel comfortable walking to the shopping center or Subway by myself.
We used the washer/dryer on the 4th floor. FYI: plan to run the dryer for 2 cycles @ $1.50 each cycle in order to fully dry your clothes. I asked for a late checkout due to having to run the dryer a 2nd cycle and then needing to repack everything and was told that since we weren’t in their membership/rewards club we’d have to be out by 1130 or pay an extra $25. for anytime past 1130a up to a max checkout time of 2p. Really?? « less

This is not a typical Comfort Inn property, its older, due for a makeover, the mattress in my room needs to be replaced, toilet water tank leaks, carpet is due for a shampooing, and expected a little more for the price. However, its a decent overnight property, more conducive to the blue collar patrons, the breakfast spread was better than expected, and there is a McDonald's and Burger King in walking distance. Chosen since it's close to the airport and offered free airport shuttle service. « less
