Banana Beach has it all, 2 pools, good food, beach front, dock where you can catch the boat to go snorkeling, scuba, fishing or just need to catch a water taxi. It has been around for a while and is stable with dependable staff. It always provides good service for a fair price. I have been to Banana Beach Resort with my kids and with just adults. It is just an overall great place. The staff will take care of you and all your needs while on the island. We stayed for a month in 2008 with my 2 kids and have gone back several times over the years. « less

This property has a lot of potential ... as yet unrealized Plenty problems ... needs better maintenance and better room amenities. Staff is very nice and friendly, but I did not go on holiday to hang out with staff. Good location - right on the beach even if there was no sand into the water ... easy walk to sandy water access.
Problems include - walls around the property need painting, tiles around property and in rooms need reparing, refrigerators need to to be replaced on the shelving needs replacing (rusty shelves in fridge), the furniture is broken down, so cheap and dirty, the sticky, shiny polyester bed covers has got to go; kitchen appliances and utensils have to be clean and without residue. Wifi only works near the office, not in rooms.
On the positive: ocean-front rooms are great - nice breeze ... as long as you don't sit on the furniture without a towel. All the plumbing does work. « less

My husband and I spent the first 5 nights of our honeymoon at the Banana Beach Resort. While this definitely wasn't a super fancy resort like Ramon's Village, the price was amazing. Not to mention that it included a free hot breakfast every day! They also paid for our taxi fare from the water taxi to the hotel. Lastly, since they knew it was our honeymoon, we arrived in our room to find a bottle of wine chilling for us. How thoughtful! Although, if we were to visit again, we may try to stay somewhere in the northern part of the island. It was nice that we were able to walk along the beach from this southern hotel to a lot of other hotels along the beach. Every place seemed to be ok with allowing the public to use their facilities as long as you were buying drinks/food. Overall Banana Beach worked very well for us.
Pros: Price Quiet 2 pools Beach Access Friendly Staff Tour company on site
Cons: Far from town Somewhat out dated rooms Poor Wifi accessibility « less

This hotel was neat and clean and the service was good. There were a few minor areas of disrepair like decking by the pool, but overall it was a great value. The food at the restaurant was very good but I have to agree with a previous review someone else wrote and say that the prices were a bit high. The hotel was pretty quiet as its located towards the end of the island and away from the busy central area. Although there were chairs located on the beach, you could not access the water easily because of the concrete barrier. Other adjacent beaches were covered in seaweed and trash. « less

Had a great time on vacation in San Pedro. We stated at Banana Beach and found the place great. Staff is first class all the way. The resort is clean and with 2 pools you can always find a cool shaded area for sun sensitive people. The Ploace offers the best bang fot your buck. It is nice to have a relaxing time and if you want excitement you are only a 15 minute stroll on the beach from town. A golf cart rental is available or $5 usd taxi trip will get you back if you are too tired of just lazy. The resort restaurant has great food all day and night as well a great drinks in the bar without busting the bank. Monkey business is on site for all your tour requests. Snorkeling with Alphonse is a must!!!!!!
