We’ve been travelling for years, using and deciding based on other’s reviews, yet have never reviewed ourselves. We thought we should start contributing. Here goes!
We chose this as a stopover on the way to Nara, from Osaka Airport, arriving late and leaving early. Easy to find, directly across the road from the JR Tennoji station.
Rooms were spacious by our Japanese room experience. We had a twin, and there was also a sofa bed in the room. Our only complaint might be the feather quilt was rather too warm for the climate and room temperature. We opened the window all night to keep cool. Unlike the outside and lobby of the hotel, the rooms seemed a little dated. However everything was very clean, working, and functional. The staff were extremely polite and welcoming.
We didn’t use any other hotel facilities, Good internet LAN connection. There was a convenience store next door. At the time we arrived and departed, didn’t notice much else except all the station shops and food stores. The number of people arriving in the morning indicated there must be a lot more nearby.
We would come here again. If we were on a rail pass, we’d consider this hotel as a convenient area base, as Tennoji is on the JR Osaka rail loop, with almost every train passing by or accessible from another loop station. « less

The front desk has very limited English speaking skills. I understand that maybe not everyone should have English ability, but maybe one of the front desk persons? The only place they have wifi is in the downstairs lobby where there is no place to sit, relax and use the wifi when the small cafe in the lobby is not open. The limited English made it difficult for us to find things to do in the area, though we did find a cool park to walk through and an neat shopping area. When we asked about it at the front desk they had no idea what we were talking about. Very strange! The best part about the hotel is its convenience to the train station. So, if you just want a place near the train station where you can sleep for a night or two, I would recommend the Miyako Hotel. « less

If you're going to explore Osaka and the rest of Kansai area, Tennoji Miyako Hotel's location is hard to beat. Located just across the JR Tennoji Station, the hotel has connections also to Osaka's subway system down on its basement, so you don't even have to go out if the weather is cold (or hot).
The room size are generous with comfortable beds. We were booked at a smoking area (despite specifying in Agoda's site that we want to be in the non-smoking floor), but it didn't matter since the rooms were clean and free of odors. However, the hallways do have a lingering aroma of cigarette smoke. Toilets were immaculate and the Japanese-style toilets have English instructions on them, so it is very easy to use.
The hotel has its own food court (or at least in its own building) where you can have an affordable lunch. However, it opens at around 11AM, so you can't take breakfast there, if it isn't included in your booking. Still, there are a lot of choices in the number of shopping malls within the immediate area - MIO, Kintetsu, Abeno Q, Hoops, and within Tennoji Station. If all else fails, there are vendo machines and the Heart In Convenience store beside the hotel, near the JR office building.
Basing in Tennoji is a great option since the area is not as noisy as the busier Osaka districts and it is the nearest main terminal going to and from Kansai International Airport, which lessens your time lugging around heavy suitcases while avoiding the rushing Osaka workforce. « less

Nice hotel with generous sized rooms and good on site facilities. The main reason we booked this hotel was it's location. It's connected to the JR Tennoji train station and subway system so has direct access to the airport and city. It really doesn't get any more convenient, you don't even have to go outside!
The in-room internet is the fastest I've ever seen but requires you to plug the cable into your laptop. No in room wifi so no good for iPhones/iPads (unless you use your laptop as a hotspot).
Other than no in-room wifi, I really couldn't fault this hotel in any other way. « less
