This was our second time staying at Portofino. Our family loves it, great quality for the price. The staff is friendly and helpful. It's clean and spacious in the kid bunk rooms. My only complaint would be that when it's busy the pool can be a bit yucky.. too small for a lot of people. Close, easy walk to Disney!

I recently stayed at the Portofino Inn for three nights along with my daughter's family which included a three year-old and six year-old. The hotel was part of a Disneyland package via CostCo. Originally, I reserved a deluxe room with two queen beds, but upon checking in, discovered that the kid suites were in a separate building from the deluxe rooms. Since one of my roles was assistant child wrangler, this situation would not work for us. When I found out that upgrading to a suite was only $30 more per night, we were able to get two adjoining suites, and the children could go back and forth safely and easily.
The Portofino is a 10-15 minutes walk to the gates of Disneyland. This was fine for the children on the way there, but they really dragged going back. There is a bus shuttle service called ART (Anaheim Resort Transportation) that will issue one or two day unlimited use passes and those can be bought at the hotel ($3 for adults, $1 for kids). We did use this service since we had to get the kids back to the hotel in the middle of the day for naps, then back to the park for evening fun. The only drawback to the shuttle is sometimes a very long wait. The hotel has strollers for rent, but they are only the little umbrella sort. If you have small ones, I would advise bringing your own strollers. They can be rented at Disneyland, but of course they must be left at the park.
The hotel itself is clean, comfortable and provides toiletries. The suites have two sinks and TV in both rooms. The bunk beds are sturdy and safe, and my king bed was comfortable with good linens and pillows. It's very nice having the kids in a separate room. Having the little refrigerator and microwave made breakfasts and snacks easy. The front desk staff was always very pleasant and helpful. Maid service was excellent. My only complaint was the noisy AC. However,I would not hesitate to recommend this very reasonably priced hotel for families visiting Disneyland. « less

i initially chose this place because it said it was close to disneyland and we would get a great view of the caliornia adventure. we get there and we have no view, just a view of a construction site, which was extremely loud in the morning. they also told me when i made my reservation that they would do something specail for my sons 4th birthday. so im expecting something when we check in. and comes to find out that they didnt do anything for him. which was such a big disappointment. the rooms were small and carpet and room looked dirty. there were spills on the floor by the fridge, mattress was dirty and chairs. but it was a place to sleep. we didnt spend much time in the room which was fine. but experience couldve been alot better!! also front desk staff never explained what we would get in room and never went through the reservation like they were supposed to.! dont know if well be staying here again. « less

We booked a Kid's Suite Disney package that included two 2-day Adult park hopper tickets and very happy with the accommodations and convenient location. It was nice having a separate room for the kids when it was their bedtime. The pool was small and got crowed in the evening after the parks closed, but we didn't have a lot of time to spend in it anyway.
