We love Bermuda! The people are great, the views amazing, and we absolutely enjoyed our time.
With that said, this property is showing some age, our room was average at best, and for the price, we would have liked a better infrastructure to match the level of courtesy from the staff.
The island can be pricey for meals, but the food was decent. Again, the service made the mundane better.
One very bright star was the spa. Again, for what you pay though, it's what we'd expect.
I know I'm spoiled, but I want the hotel in a resort to be nicer than an average hotel room I'd stay in on a business trip. This was not nicer. « less

We enjoyed our stay at the fairmont southampton. It has a nice pool area with good service and quality food/drink offerings. The hotel concierge was very helpful in arranging activities, explaining how to take the bus into central Hamilton, and making sure that all of our postcards got mailed out.
The breakfast buffet, though a bit expensive, is worth it. So much so that we had it each day we were there. It has a gigantic selection of offerings, and makes many breakfast buffets at other hotels I've stayed at look completely sub-par. If you can, go for Sunday brunch and make sure to have the traditional Bermudian breakfast. It's superb! You also know its good as many of the locals flock there to eat after church.
As for the beach, it was amazing. If you get sick of the wonderful hotel owned beach, the famous horseshoe bay is right next door!
Take the bus into Hamilton. It's safe and only costs $2.00. Very convenient as the Fairmont property is quite far from the city. An alternative is to take the free shuttle boat from the Southampton to the Fairmont princess in town.
The only problem we had with our room is that the wall between our room and the adjoining one was quite thin, and offered no noise-proofing. You could literally hear the conversations of the people next door to us. This wouldn't have been so problematic had Bermuda not been a relatively popular honeymoon destination. Unfortunately, the couple beside us was quite "loud", especially in the middle of the night. This problem could be mitigated at check-in by explaining your concerns to the concierge. « less

We attended a four day meeting at the Fairmont Southampton. The hotel is beautiful. The service is impeccable. Staff is friendly and helpful. We had lunch and breakfast at "Wickets" in the hotel and always had an excellent meal. The lunch menu was new with do-it-yourself burgers; five kinds of buns, four kinds of meat or veggie, etc. Non-stop little buses carry you to the beach where the sand is super-fine and blindingly white. Our very nice, well-kept room was a little dated. It had a balcony overlooking the pool and the ocean. We enjoyed our stay. « less

Recently, my family of 9, including my 3 grandchildren celebrated a milestone birthday and wedding anniversary at the Fairmont Southampton. We rented 4 rooms on the Gold level and could have been happier. The service on the concierge floor was superb and actually exceeded expectations, with the staff going out of their way to ensure that our stay and celebration would be a memorable one. We were able to enjoy the many outstanding amenities of this resort, including the spa, pool. beach and tennis courts. Everywhere we went, we were treated royally! We will be back! « less

Title says it all. The location was good, our rooms were in good condition and the food was great. However, it was next to impossible trying to get a hold of front desk or concierge or in-room dining from my room. I mentioned this to the front desk rep and she apologized for this, but there was no change in the service throughout my stay. Service in Jasmine Lounge was sometimes a miss...and it seemed like we were a burden on them. I brought this to their attention and they quickly rectified this. However, one would expect more professionalism from an establishment like Fairmont.
One person stood out in terms of service & professionalism and went the extra mile for us, for which I am grateful - Prasool in Jasmine Lounge made our stay extra special. I hope he will be recognized for his efforts. Looking forward to our next visit to Fairmont Southampton and to Bermuda....and also hoping to give 5 stars for our next stay.

Testimonials: Why use Hotel Planner?
"I will definitely use your company again, and refer everyone I know to it! I loved that I did not have to be on the phone all day to get a great deal! THANKS!" C.P. - St.George, UT
"When people provide customer friendly service in today’s world, it should be applauded! So many businesses have taken almost and adversarial attitude towards the customer, in other words, they over compensate for a consumer not following through. As a business, it is my understanding, that the business should always follow through and do as they promise! Loyalty between consumers and businesses should remain alive, profit above service is a bad plan and will cost the business in the long run!" R.F. - Denver, CO
