A good, clean and convenient choice for business travel to downtown Orlando. It was nice to have most of the I-4 traffic back-up behind me.

We chose this hotel because it was close to the airport and a reasonable rate. BIG MISTAKE!!! We arrived and were given a room. We went to the room and the room had a weird smell to it. We thought it was because it was warm. I went to the air conditioner and went to turn it on to find it was filled with a mysterious white powder. I went to the front desk and told them and was told to "just turn on the air conditioner and it would blown out". I explained that I would NOT do that due to the fact that I had NO IDEA what this was in the unit. Someone went down to the room and agreed that this was not something that we should ignore and stated that they would get us another room. We got the new room and were just as horrified entering that room. It smelled worst than the first room, and was dirty. Both my husband and I agreed that we would just deal with it since we were going to be checking out early the next morning. Neither of us slept anyway due to the fact that the room was right next to the metal stairway to the next level and we constantly heard the heels of the hookers going up and down all night. We ended up leaving at 3am instead of the 7am plan, because we just couldn't take it anymore, and ended up sleeping in the airport terminal. « less

We looked for something cheap on Booking.com simply because we were going to Universal for a couple of days and couldn't be bothered driving up from St Pete Beach both days. We've done this before in Orlando and found a couple of decent places, both of which were cheaper than this rat hole.
The hotel (more a bargain bin motel made of plywood) is right next to the I4 which is both good and bad - great location in terms of proximity to Universal, terrible location from the point of view of noise from the interstate and the state of the area it's in. Absolutely horrible.
We arrived and the guy on duty (a caricature of a man by the name of Jose) informed us they didn't have a booking under our name. He then told us WE would have to call booking.com in the UK from our mobile phone to sort it out. He had 'a ton of work to do back here' so was either unable or unwilling to help.
This turned out to be an absolute pantomime as while we were on the phone to booking.com, the same person phoned directly to Jose The Caricature to sort it out and kept us on hold!
Eventually the booking was faxed over to Jose, and he began processing our booking. He asked for our debit card 'because it would make things a whole lot quicker'... We assumed this was to confirm our booking, or to take an imprint of the card in case we did a runner and we'd be able to settle up in cash at the end of our stay - which has been the norm every other time we'd used booking.com. But no, he took our payment from the debit card without telling us he was going to do so. It wasn't an issue, there was money in the account, but we had intended to use our cash for the trip and he did not have our authorisation to debit our account.
Anyway, we got a key for the room and took our things up there. Here's what was wrong wi the room:
- First off, it was all in darkness - it was a scary enough neighbourhood without entering a dark room without having a clue where the light switch was.
- Second, it absolutely stank of damp/mould.
-Third, the toilet and sink were both very dirty.
- fourth, the fridge was rusty inside
- fifth, the curtains hardly covered the windows, which looked out on the parking lot, so you were in danger of being gawped at by the local pervert while wandering around in various states of undress.
- sixth, the window and wall to the outside was made of balsa wood and single glazing. You could hear EVERYTHING. Including the various noisy drunks who returned to the hotel at early o'clock, singing at the top of their lungs. It was as if they were standing at the end of your bed!
- seventh, the mighty Jose had told us we'd need security to come and make our safe work... So,we asked if he could send up the security man to do the honours. After half an hour, and a phonecall back to The Caricature, the security man arrived to ask what the problem was with our safe... There wasn't one! We'd just been told we'd need the safe programmed. Misinformation and, given it was 11pm, we just wanted to get to bed; instead we had to wait for security, which was frankly an unnecessary pain in the backside.
Incidentally, we took all our valuables with us during the day because we felt the car was a safer place for them at the Universal car park than in the hotel room.... Just the vibe we got from the place.
We made our escape as soon as we could after our two night stay, and ventured back to the depths of Hell (our room) only when we really had to... We even went for dinner soaking wet after Universal because we preferred that prospect to returning to the room for a change of clothes.
Now, we have discovered rather than charging around $125 for our stay, we've been charged £125!! Whichever way you look at it, this is NOT what we signed up for.
If I can offer you any advice, avoid this place as you would the Plague... Or you might just end up catching it. « less

The only good thing was the young man who checked us in. We stayed Friday night April 5. He was very pleasant and professional. Anything else not so much. My next door roommate found a moldy coffee filter when she went to make coffee. Very small breakfast area. Noise level outside was excessive at midnite. I have to remember tho I got what I paid for. If u want inexpensive and for only one night then u can tolerate a few hours. « less
