My wife and I stayed with you for our 1 year wedding anniversary and had the best vacation of our lives. We arrived easily at the resort and were greeted by Ziara at the front desk. She took care of us the whole time. We were upgraded to Red Level for our wedding anniversary and it was absolutely amazing. We have suggested the Red Level package to two of our friends that got married this past weekend and they are staying at the Gran Melia because of our high praise of the resort and the staff. The bartenders at the Red Level pool (Gabriel and crew) were our best friends and were a blast to spend some time with trying different drinks and talking about life in PR. We also loved visiting David at the main pool. He was happy and full of life. Our room was perfect, beautiful and private. Everything we could have imagined was available for us at your resort. We were so grateful for the breakfast buffet and the nightly happy hour. The main pool is massive and beautiful while the Red Level pool is also quite large and very quiet and comfortable. The resort golf cart transportation and on site car rental made getting around the resort and the island a breeze. We loved our day trips to Old San Juan, El Yunque and Liquillo. the GM is in such a great area its easy to access these prime spots for some off resort fun and exploring.
We have already referred two friends that are staying at the GM and we are planning another trip soon!
Thanks everyone for making this one of the easiest and most enjoyable trips of our lives. « less

I stayed here with my wife and 2 sons (9&6) from May 4-7. This place is beautiful to say the least. The grounds are like a tropical paradise with iguanas and birds roaming the gardens. The pool is awesome and massive, and while the beach is narrow and a bit rocky it is very scenic and calm. The main lobby building is superbly well done and the rooms were large with nice garden views. The resort is close to El yunque national rainforest, with the huge mountain looming scenically near the property. The property is large, but they have karts roaming the resort for your transportation convenience ,although they drive a bit fast in my opinion. Service at the hotel is not as fast however, but that's typical of many places in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean in general. The staff is friendly and helpful however. My only complaint is that the one meal I had at the resort was expensive and nothing to rave about. Go to town to eat, I recommend verde BBQ, food is great and cheap. Overall we had a great experience, and would definitely return. « less

A couple of friends and I went on a getaway and stayed at this resort. The resort is about 30 minutes away from the airport. There are no stores close by so stop at a market before you check in. Most of the entertainment is very far away from this resort. About 30 to 45 minute travel time to and from.
Once we got to the resort and checked in everything went horrible. They couldn't find us in the computer for about 45 minutes. After they finally found us we checked in. We got to the room and it looked like a glorified Days Inn room. The shower was dirty with strands of hair in it from the last people that stayed and the floors were so dirty that our socks were jet black on the bottom when we took them off. The shower door wasn't low enough to catch the water when we took showers so we had to lay towels near it to prevent it from flooding the floor. We called housekeeping to fix it and they never showed up to fix it.
Next day we went for a swim. The pool looks really beautiful until you get in. Dirty! But the swim up bar has good food and great drinks. Beware of the birds that fly by and steal your food-NO JOKE!
They make you wear these dumb bands for free beer and wine which was fine but they told us we would get free buffet breakfast and that was not true. We got continental breakfast. They told us if we lost the band we would have to pay fifty bucks to replace them!!! Really???
All I can tell you is that I've been on some really nice trips and I've stayed in low end and high end hotels/resorts but this resort was by far one of the worst! Save your money, trust the reviews and try to find another resort to stay in.
I'm leaving tomorrow and I can't wait to get home. « less

We just spent 4 wonderful nights at this hotel. The staff, food, service and attention to detail are out of this world! On the evening of my birthday, I not only got the Royal Treatment at dinner, but also found upon return to my suite, the whole room decorated with tea lights surrounded by tropical flowers and the tub full of bubble bath, petals, chocolate-covered strawberries and champagne. Thanks to all for a most memorable birthday. Simply exquisite; Over the Top!!! « less

We just returned from staying at The Gran Melia and we were very pleased. This was our first time there. The staff is helpful and very friendly. The resort itself is beautiful and the water at the beach is clear and warm. There are many things to do there and in the surrounding area's. I would highly recommend staying at there. « less
