This hotel has beautiful grounds and staff that are very willing to please. Our suite was spacious and the bed very comfortable. It is pricey but well-located and I do not think you will regret booking a stay here. Check-in was relatively smooth once I spelled my name three times -- I think their computers were down but they managed. Check-out was at 3:30am so no wait, also smooth. We used the beach shuttle one time and thought that was a nice addition to their offerings. BUT please note to the extent that you were drawn to this property because of Marriott's Smoke-free policy, which is supposed to apply to both rooms and "public spaces," that policy is not enforced in the outdoor corridors or by the "adult" pool. In Florida's humid air, the cigarette smoke forms a stagnant cloud that will envelop you for quite a while. I cannot speak as to whether there was also smoking around the separate kid's pool, but I did see both guests and staff taking smoke breaks behind that pool's bathroom shack (which happened to be very close to our room's balcony). A policy without enforcement is just marketing. Also, I found there to be a lack of attention to the details that would have made our stay nicer. The most significant example was that we got a suite so that we can use the kitchenette. Turns out it was a full-blown kitchen with a microwave, toaster, hot water kettle, keurig coffee maker, full fridge -- i.e., every appliance you could possibly need. And yet not one plate, napkin, towel, utensil, sharp knife, or glass. So you have to call in-room dining to have them stock the kitchen appropriately. We had to make three separate requests of our bellhop, the in-room dining guy, and the front desk for basic provisions. They couldn't seem to get it right until the third try. Again, they are very willing to please, but how many tries should it take to get a couple sets of utensils? Apparently they only stock the kitchens "at request." But if you book a suite with a kitchen, by doing so haven't you already requested that the kitchen be somewhat stocked with plates, glasses, and utensils? Another example is that neither tv in the suite worked -- unfortunately we only discovered this when we tried to turn the tv on at around 10pm, hardly the time that you want to get dressed and start calling Engineering to come fix your tv. After two requests to the front desk, they finally fixed that on day three of our three-day trip. Not that big a deal, but they should be looking at these things before you check in to make sure they work. Finally, please note that valet seemed to be very chaotic at times with not a lot of room to maneuver cars, so be prepared for a wait and/or some congestion. And as we were headed to the airport, the valet attendant even pulled out the wrong car and insisted it was mine. But unsurprisingly, he was very nice about it when I finally convinced him that he was wrong. « less

Large king suites overlooking golf course. Beautiful Mediterranean style hotel, with lovely pool including slide and lazy river. Our 5 year old loved this hotel. Their restaurant food was decent (Cascada buffet breakfast excellent) and the servers professional and courteous. 5 out of 5 for customer service overall. Live music in Lobby Restaurant most nights. Spa was nice, Karen was an excellent massage therapist. We were there for 4 nights but could have easily stayed another few days. Beach Club is in Sunny Isles Beach and takes about 10-15 mins by hotel shuttle, which also stops at Aventura Mall. The beach was beautiful, turquoise water and warm in May. Only complaints were lack of attentive service poolside - no one not even once asked us if we needed anything from bar. We had to approach Laguna Poolside resto ourselves for service. Valet service took close to 40 mins to retrieve our vehicle, twice. Give yourself lots of time for that. Aside from that, we would go back to this hotel. « less

Let me preface this review by writing that this was only a brief one night stay. Check-in was quick and pleasant by the front desk person. We were given a small map showing us how to navigate to the building where our room was located........this is a sprawling property and our room was located in the Magnolia Building - first floor. The room was pleasant - very large with high ceilings - too high - the scale was just plain weird. The enormous room had a tiny closet that was split halfway down with shelving above and a short space below with clothes rod for hanging items........very odd. The galley style bathroom.....but large bathroom had a small vanity with little area to place personal belongings, a tub and separate shower. The shower had no shelf or ledge to place any personal items nor the soap..........you had to leave the soap on the shower floor. This is not a new hotel so I am not sure why this has not been corrected......such an easy fix. The bar at Bourbon Steak was very nice.........great cocktails and dinner was exceptional. Breakfast buffet at Cascadia was excellent as was all staff we encountered. I would definitely go back and stay after a full day at Aventura Mall.........it is right across the street. « less

Stayed here for 3 relaxing nights. All we did was shop since couldn't do any outdoor things. The Aventura Mall is literally across the street w/ lots of shopping, dining & movie theatre. The check-in was smooth since we arrived late in the evening but check-out was lengthy. In fact, the guy in line behind me stated he frequents this property and reception needs much improvement. In fact, I asked for my hotel bill the night before and that too took forever. The staff at this property really exuded a feeling like they didn't want to be there, friendly but not happy. Valet at a whopping $30+ USD/night was also a pain especially since they did not offer self parking. You had to check in at the valet window and then present the card to the valet guy every time you wanted to pick up your car. Room service was fairly quick but beware of the exorbitant prices. Continental breakfast for one ended up costing me $42! The property is plantation style so don't expect modern. However, it doesn't look run down. The hallways are super spacious and the rooms as well. The lounge bar turns into a breakfast bar in the morning. They have draft beer poolside. The upscale restaurant onsite Bourbon Steak is awesome but expect to pay top dollar.
