Stayed here for 4 days in mid-May. My first time to Vegas. Price was right and that is why we chose it. 39 bucks a night. We arrived on Mother's day at six in the evening. Signed up for total rewards before we checked in and we were sent to the fast lane...no waiting in the very long check-in line. We booked a fab room with no view of the strip. It was roomy, clean and the bathroom was a good size. We were on the 14th floor overlooking the bird area. Our room was cleaned perfectly everyday. We ate in the food court a lot here. Didnt do the buffet. I was traveling with my daughters and nieces in their early 20's so the Flamingo pool was a big hit! Pool gets crowded fast...we were lucky to get chairs even as early as 8:30 am! We loved the pool and people watchin. Flamingo is right in the center of the strip which is another reason we chose it. There is nothing exotic or extraordinary about the Flamingo but for the money it was a fine choice! « less

If you want opulence, do the Bellagio. If you want a gigantic sprawling casino - the Flamingo is not that. We keep coming back -- the Flamingo is in the center of the strip and it has a smaller intimate casino that has door that are open air to the street. I think that's kinda cool. It has a really nice adults only pool with good music and food/beverage service. It is just across the street from Caesars and diagonally across from the Bellagio; which also places it right near Paris as well. And the rooms are inexpensive - even the strip view rooms (an upgrade) are cheap if you're staying Sunday through Thursday. Cons: Room walls are not sound proofed enough - you can hear the guests next door playing the TV and talking. Bring earplugs. Also, the carpets in the room need cleaning. If you are able to overlook the downsides and enjoy the price and proximity to everything then this is a great value. Want awesome shopping? Go across the street to Caesars or the Bellagio; awesome food? Go to Mon Ami Gabi - a sidewalk cafe at Paris - (we never miss this gem). Want an awesome show? See Cirque Du Soleil : Beatles Love. You can't go wrong with that one. More great food late in the evening? Go to Gordon Ramsey's pub at Caesars. Hate to walk or can't walk? Hmmm, maybe Vegas isn't your best bet for a vacation. Tired of gambling, shows, awesome restaurants? Do yourself a treat - rent a car and go to Valley of Fire state park. 1 hour north of Vegas, easy drive up the main highway and well worth it as a morning trip and be back in time for the pool in the afternoon. I hope this helps you. « less

My partner and I stayed here for three nights in May 2013. We only waited in line for 5mins or so to check in but when we got the counter, we were greeted by a girl who looked and acted like she'd rather be anywhere else. She was definitely not friendly and simply gave us our room keys and sent us on our way - no mention of the resort fee, what our room included etc. We stayed on the 23rd floor overlooking the pool which was pretty cool considering there is a lot of construction going on. We decided to go for a wander around the pool area and Flamingo Habitat. Just a word of warning - it STINKS around the area of the wildlife habitat. It definitely detracted from the retro glamour vibe I think they were trying to go for. The pool area was reasonably cool but it was really difficult to find a sunbed in either of the two pool areas. We opted to hang out at the smaller, more laid back pool as the bigger pool was swamped with drunk people and there really wasn't any room to lay your towel down at all. We read in the hotel booklet that wifi was $13.99 a day for a single device in your room. By the second day of our three day stay, we decided to just bite the bullet and pay the money as we really needed to look up some hotels for later on. When we called down to Customer Service, we were told that wifi was included in the Resort Fee and that we also had access to the gym as well. We were pretty annoyed with that as it would've been nice to have been told that a day ago when we'd checked in. Later that afternoon, we went downstairs to the concierge to ask about good places to go shopping. The concierge was really unhelpful. He gave us the absolute bare minimum of information. "Shops are across the road." "What kind of shops are they?" "High end shops." "Are there any other shops around this area?" "15 minutes down the road." When we asked about where we could find a laundromat to wash our clothes, his only response was "Two blocks from here." Given that we weren't locals, it would've been nice to have some more detail and information given to us. We also had a toilet brush sitting outside our room on the carpet in the hotel for more than a day as well as a room service trolley. The Flamingo is in a great location and the room was cheap but the crappy customer service, the stinky flamingo habitat, the cramped pool areas and the real lack of any decent places to eat in the hotel really left us feeling underwhelmed. « less
