Orlando isn't the best place for a business trip, but you do what you have to. All things considered, the Hyatt Place is as good a choice as you're going to make.
Constructed straight out of the standard Hyatt Place blueprint, if you've been to one before you know what you're getting: A living area with a couch, mini-fridge, desk and huge TV; one or two beds; and a tiny bathroom with the sink outside. You either like the setup or you don't. I do.
Had a room looking out toward Universal. Even got to see the fireworks one night. Despite facing busy Kirkman Road it was very quiet. Bed was comfy; pillows were mush.
Typical free Hyatt Place breakfast, which is basically a slight step up from most places. I only went one day, and had breakfast at my conference hotel the other days, so as not to contend with the little kids (for whom, let's face it, Orlando exists).
Free Wi-Fi was fine. Saw a room with a PC and printer, but didn't use.
No guest laundry (very odd for a place like Orlando), but when I called the desk to ask I was told to walk over to the Holiday Inn next door. Sure enough, the desk clerk there gave me a key to their guest laundry, which also has a detergent machine and a dollar bill changer.
Had to go to Universal for business, but the Hyatt Place only runs two shuttles in the AM and three in the PM, none of which ever fit my schedule. I walked up to the corner and on Major Blvd. is Lynx bus 21, which runs every 30 minutes, costs $2 and gets you to the Universal entrance in 3 minutes. At the Universal bus stop there is also a cab stand.
Overall, a good place. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend or return. « less

This is my second time staying at Hyatt Place Universal. I have stayed at several different Hyatt Place locations nationwide. I was very please with the courteous staff. I have never seen staff restock breakfast so fast. They remained in good spirit despite the large crowds. The hotel is very convenient to the Universal Parks, attractions and restaurant s on International Drive. The room was very big and comfy. I traveled with a baby and older children so the space was great for kids to play. I am very pleased to see the 24/7 galley menu. We didn't use it this stay but love to have the option. The hotel is quite busy on the weekend but check in was a breeze and receiving service was fast. The room was also cleaned very well. Will stay here again. « less

If you are planning to visit Universal Studios, this is the place to stay. It is located right outside of the Universal Studios entrance, and right next to a T.G.I. Friday's and Walgreen's. The rooms were very comfortable, modern, big, spacious and clean. Our room had a great view of Universal. The staff was super friendly, and the breakfast buffet food was very good. It was also very convenient to have a shuttle transport us to the park every morning for free, right from the hotel entrance. Next time we return to Universal Studios, we will certainly stay here again! « less

We a a large family and finding a very clean and reasonably priced room is difficult to find. I did so much research and finally stumbled upon Hyatt Place. It is a big deal for us to be able to get out on vacations so rates and cleanliness are a must. The rooms were surprisingly big and was very comfortable! Although we only stayed for one night, the staff treated us like we were long time guest and to me, that is very important. The breakfast was pretty good and it sure did fill my kids up! We are Universal pass holders this year and it is great that it is even walking distance! Thanks for a great stay and you have surely won our business! « less

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel during Spring Break. We chose it so we could walk to the park, and could avoid renting a car. It's not a short walk, but it's enjoyable. Sidewalks all the way, and you pass the lovely resorts onsite at Universal. Even late at night, there are other walkers, so you feel safe. The hotel itself is well-kept. Clean and pleasant lobby, as well as breakfast bar area. The rooms are a rather odd layout, but modern and clean. There is food available at all hours from the room service menu. A great convenience since you tend to keep strange hours on vacation. Breakfast offered a nice variety of cold and hot items which are self-serve. The staff is outstanding. Even though they were incredibly busy during the Spring Break onslaught, they were helpful and unfailingly pleasant. They even remembered my name. This hotel is a great option if you would like to be close to the park, but not pay on-site prices for lodging. « less
