When I first walked in, I didn't think I was going to like this hotel. It's an old building, built in the 1920s that has been renovated and turned into a hotel. I was here for a medical meeting that was taking place in the way-to- big Philadelphia Convention Center. ( it's like having a convention in the Atlanta airport, only bigger.). But back to the hotel. The room was immaculate and very well appointed. it had no safe, but there was a refrigerator. It was spotless and everything was in its proper place and housekeeping kept it that way for the duration of my three night stay. There was a coffee maker and the 42 inch flat screen plasma TV. The bed was comfortable, the room was quiet and everything worked. I had two dinners in the hotel restaurant and they were both very good. The service was fine too. An extra plus is that there is a Starbucks in the lobby. I had a very pleasant stay and would certainly consider coming back here in the future. « less

We were in town with family for alumni weekend, and to do some sightseeing with the kids. It is very conveniently-located and within walking distance from everything we wanted to see during our short stay. I realize this is not supposed to be a high-end resort, but the rooms were very small and plain, with almost a hospital-like feel, with white walls and no decor or charm at all. This was not helped by the fact that we were on a low floor overlooking a parking lot and another building. The bathroom was equally uncharming, with a bathtub of questionable cleanliness. On the upside: the daytime front desk staff were very helpful- after checking out, we realized we'd left an important item. We called and spoke to Angela (? I think), and she cheerfully located it right away and held it for us. So, a solid 3 rating for this 3-star hotel- in the balance of pros and cons, it was perfectly fine for what it is. « less

Since it's in the city, it may not be as inexpensive as other Courtyard hotels, but this one is, in my opinion, a step up from most Courtyards.
I stayed at this hotel recently for one night on a business trip. The building is historic, but totally updated and comfortable. It's in the center of Philadelphia and easy to get to by car. The location is great for seeing the sights in Philadelphia. Most important, the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom and the room were clean and adequately spacious. At time of this review, wifi is included at no cost in rooms and public spaces.
A few more specific notes. The Starbucks downstairs is not a full Starbucks - one cannot use their Starbucks app or prepaid card there, and the selection at breakfast was lean. On the up side, the elevators have a little bit of security - you have to use your room card to get to any floor past the mezzanine, which made me feel just a little safer.
Everything was exactly as advertised - the valet parking took just under the amount of time they said it would, for example. The staff were courteous and professional. I found this to be a very comfortable and efficient place to stay for a business trip. « less

I needed to come to Philadelphia for my son's college graduation and the hotels jack up the rates like crazy because they know that dedicated parents, who paid a fortune for their children's education will pay anything to see them graduate. I planned way ahead and booked this room 5 months early and got a great rate.
This hotel is very nice. The rooms are big, roomy and comfortable. The bed is great with wonderful pillows and a big screen tv, wireless, nice bath-, convenient to public transportation.. I'm a happy woman.
If you can plan ahead and get a good price on this hotel- do it « less

Stayed last Saturday evening at a special rate as part of a Penn Alumni reunion. Arrived in mid afternoon via the subway from the Penn Campus. The hotel was right next to the 13th Street stop. The checkin was done by a very polite front desk person. The room was on the 7th floor and quite satisfactory. It was quite muggy out and the room was very comfortable. The location is quite central and the front desk was helpful suggesting some nearby restaurants. Saw more pan handlers lurking outside convience stores in the area than I did in a two week recent trip to central Europe. I didn't utilize the hotel bar/restaurant.
I checked out the following morning and took the airport train from the station that was two blocks away.
I would have no problem staying there again. « less

Testimonials: Why use Hotel Planner?
"It was so nice to just put up what I wanted and you contacted the hotel for me. I had spent hours trying to find hotels for my wedding and this was so much easier. Thanks!" B.M. - Anaheim Hills, CA
"I am SO IMPRESSED with your service! I'm just getting started planning our conference for next year. What a gift to find a site through which I can screen multiple bids, without contacting multiple hotels individually. Plus I would never have thought to contact many that we are getting bids from! And all the booking can be done through your site? And you'll help with every possible need? What a God-send!" J.M. - Dallas, TX
