We stayed here 2 years ago and it was really good. Now it seems to have lost some of it's luster. They're doing some remodeling and the desk clerk said our room had been updated but I didn't see it. The staff is just great and very helpful. Our A/C wasn't working so we called the front desk. Christine was all over it trying to fix us up. After trying a couple things she suggested she had the Maint. man come up and he had the problem solved in about 10 min. I didn't get his name but he was really pleasant. I'd probably stay here again Can't say enough about Christine, she even suggested an Italian restaurant across the street and we found it to be very good. « less

My family and girlfriend and I were in the area for my brother's jujitsu competition and we decided to stay here. The experience was great and unforgettable. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by a young lady that was very friendly and provided great service. She informed us that there was free happy hour until 7:30pm for hotel guests, which included free beer and wine. This was a plus because it was nice to relax with a beer after a long drive to San Diego. The rooms were great and a lot of them were in the process of being remodeled. The room that wer stayed in was newly remodeled and was big enough to accommodate 5 people comfortably. There were two TVs in the room, which was perfect for my family because we can't seem to agree on what to watch. By the work that is being done it is obvious that the management is working hard to make the hotel one of the best in the area.
My only two complaints are that the it smelled a lot like fresh paint throughout the hotel due to the remodeling that is be done in. However, the smell was not that big of a deal and you get used to it after a while. Also, the pool and hottub were a bit dirty. The water was foggy and the water smelled a little odd. Whatever was in the water made my girlfriend and I very itchy. Even after showering the itch did not go away for several hours.
The morning that we checked-out the hotel provided an AMAZING breakfast. They had bagels, eggs, waffles, yogurt, sausage, and many other great foods. Breakfast was served from 6am-10am. The best thing about the breakfast is that hotel employees constantly brought out hot, freshly made food; there was never cold food sitting on the buffet tables. After breakfast were were greeted by the same young woman that greeted us when checked in the day before. Once again she was extremely friendly and wished us safe travels.
Overall, this hotel was great! I loved staying here and I would not hesitate staying here again. The hotel staff was amazing as was the facility itself. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is in the area and looking for a hotel to spend the night at. To the management and staff: KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING! « less

Some things about this hotel were great; others not so good.
Rooms are huge. Mine was a true 2-room suite with a refrigerator and microwave in the living room (which also included a sofabed). They may be doing some updating as other readers stated; mine surely hadn't been done yet. Mattresses have been around for a while. Furniture is decades old. One reviewer said the room was way too bright -- mine was way too dim except the light by the sink was decent, good for shaving or make-up.
It was cold enough when I visited that I needed the room heat. It was a bit noisy but really worked fine and I wouldn't have minded the sound too much except that the thermostat needs to be replaced. It must have a swing of 8-10 degrees so the room would get way too hot then too cold and then it would kick in with a loud whirr and then the blower would heat the room fairly quickly and shut down again.
Walls are fairly thin. There were a couple of guys in the next room playing some kind of internet or video game. I really don't think they were too loud--but the noise penetrated into my room until they stopped playing about 1am. Then I was awoken about 7:30 am by the vacuum in the room above me. Why is it that hotelsl think it's a good idea to start maid service at 7:30am??
Breakfast was good. Typical Comfort Suites selection including freshly made eggs (though they ran out about 8:30; breakfast is open until 9, and it didn't appear to me that they were going to make any more), waffles, yogurt, pastries, cereal. Fresh fruit included apples, oranges and bananas, though the bananas were overripe. Cranberry "juice" is pink water; orange "juice" is orange water. Note to management: It's really a false economy to save a couple of pennies on the juice and then get poor reviews on TripAdvisor....
The free internet service was lightning fast -- probably the best I've ever had in a hotel. « less

Although the room was run down it appeared clean and there were no major problems. Unfortunately after returning home both my daughter and I were covered with bites. Turns out the bite of a bedbug doesn't appear for 1&1/2 to 2 weeks. Who knew? Thought they were in my house and couldn't figure out why my husband and other daughter weren't getting bitten (they didn't travel with us). Called and asked to speak to the manager and was assured she would return my call. No surprise - she didn't. Guess I should have suspected when I noticed many of the rooms had mattresses piled up against the walls but thought they were doing room renovations. Silly me, lesson learned. « less

Dear Beth A,
Thank you very much for taking my phone call today and for providing your feedback about your most recent stay with us. After our conversation, we investigated the matter further with our Chief Engineer and our Executive Housekeeper and moreover we reached out to our extermination company who completed a thorough inspection of the room you stayed in as well as the surrounding rooms. While all results came back negative, we take issues like this very seriously. I want to assure you that our guests’ well-being is just as important to us as providing an excellent experience.
Again, thank you for taking my call today and for accepting my apologies for the delay. Should you like to discuss the details of the inspection, please contact me directly at the hotel.
Warm regards,
Laura Chavoya

We have been coming to this hotel for close to 20 years. There is new management, but the staff does everything it can to meet your needs. the breakfast is more than adequate. when he had a problem with the room being too warm, they sent someone to fix it right away! The room is dark, so sleep is wonderful. The pool temperature is great, as is the jacuzzi! We have tried other hotels but keep returning. This feels like home. Many restaurants nearby, as well as shopping and attractions. « less

Testimonials: Why use Hotel Planner?
"When people provide customer friendly service in today’s world, it should be applauded! So many businesses have taken almost and adversarial attitude towards the customer, in other words, they over compensate for a consumer not following through. As a business, it is my understanding, that the business should always follow through and do as they promise! Loyalty between consumers and businesses should remain alive, profit above service is a bad plan and will cost the business in the long run!" R.F. - Denver, CO
